Post Summary
The ICT environment comprises of a number of ICT systems delivered on a mix of “software as a service” (Saas) and “infrastructure as a service” (IaaS). As part of its IaaS portfolio approximately 40 servers are deployed in a number of hosting environments for its online presence and internal systems provided by third parties. The Company has implemented and is implementing a substantial change programme to deliver ICT services for its 6000+ user population. A number of major systems implementation projects have been completed, including Student Management System, Web Presence and Portal Services, On-line Learning Management and a technology enabled course delivery infrastructure. The provision of ICT services is underpinned by a technical architecture, consisting of a number of hosted services, an education network, multimedia services, internal services, and single sign-on transparent access for users.

The Service Delivery Manager is required to ensure effective delivery of the ICT production environment and high quality services and support for its users. The Service Delivery Manager is responsible for managing the technical aspects of ICT projects and user support. The manager will lead a support team and plays a key role in implementing and operating technology and software. The position requires a broad range of technical skills in managing a diverse operational environment with a focus on customer service and supplier liaison. A keen interest in applying technology in education experience is required. Experience of a varied technical infrastructure and demanding service environment is required.



The post will manage a team that supports an advanced infrastructure, utilising private cloud, SAAS, and IAAS environments and include

• Technical Support Management

Person Specification
The candidate must have:
Core Skills:

• Ability to work on own initiative. A thorough knowledge of current and emergent technology is required, plus the ability to spot opportunities and exploit these in an education environment.
• Communication skills: Necessary for clear communication of technical concepts to customers. The ability to plan and prepare courses and presentations when required, host meetings and represent the organisation externally.
• Management of Work: Project planning, Time management and Team skills (this is an important aspect as members of this team rely on each other’s specialist knowledge in some areas).
• Technically articulate with a good knowledge of infrastructure and systems and the integrations between systems as they would apply to the company
• People management: The ability to manage a team of support staff and the ability to influence others in the pursuit of a well-regarded and valued ICT service
• Numerate and literate and have excellent problem resolution skills

Education and Experience Required:

The minimum core competencies required are as follows:
• Education Level: Degree level or relevant experience
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a technical computing environment, with advanced specialist knowledge of one or more of the following areas: networking, operating systems, internet technology or vendor management
Desirable qualification
• Microsoft certified professional in relevant subjects e.g. Active Directory
Highly desirable competencies:
• A relevant IT management discipline qualification e.g. ITIL or be in pursuit of same.
• MSc in ICT with emphasis on management or be in pursuit of same.

Reporting Relationship
The Service Delivery Manager will be responsible for ICT support in the company and will report to the ICT Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The post will be responsible for ICT technical support, projects to maintain existing systems and to introduce new and improved technology and services. Given the pace of change of ICT in all industries, duties and responsibilities include but are not be limited to:

• Embedding and driving compliance with policy and standard operating procedures
• Delivery of ICT routines in the company including the execution of daily, weekly and monthly procedures e.g. Backup, Recovery Testing and audits
• Monitoring and driving day to day management of vendors in the delivery of ICT systems including the company’s online presence and office systems. Driving the extraction of maximum value from service contracts including vendor performance.
• Supporting and documenting the delivery and integration of ICT software and services into the company’s technical architecture
• Delivery of change control and request management processes
• Managing projects to implement and improve ICT services available to the company and its stakeholders and delivering same on time and within budget
• Developing and driving an accurate understanding of how ICT services are used through the recording of quality data in the company’s ICT support system and from vendor SLA reports
• Managing the technical support team on a day to day basis
• Providing technical support to customers
• Providing an escalation point to customers with service problems
• Researching and developing methods in which current and emerging technology can assist the company’s community

My client is looking for a highly motivated individual to provide support to the IT Department within the organisation with specific responsibility for the Moodle VLE. The successful candidate will have considerable experience of VLE Site administration.
Responsibilities:

• Administer Moodle queries
• Provide technical support for queries in relation to Moodle
• Provide and prepare LMS consulting, training and technical documentation
• Provide day to day issue resolution and support to key stakeholders
• Regulate and enforce the Moodle style guide and course structure standards and guidelines
• Provide guidance on best practice in Moodle site/course structure in relation to online learning
• Stay current with technical trends and research improvements for the organisation's LMS.

Skill Set:

• Manage all Moodle courses/accounts/tools
• Assist the projects with future upgrades and backups to Moodle contents
• Management of Courses, including but not limited to; updating course properties, creating courses and enrolling users via enrolment keys and/or batch processing, course utilities i.e. import, export, archive, restore, etc., course configuration options, group(s) and site hierarchy management

Requires:

* Mentoring other QA Engineers on technologies / philosophies
Position Requirements
* A proven and demonstrable track record in testing, with experience reviewing test requirements and scripts, executing test scripts, defect tracking/closing, and test planning using guidelines and structured methodologies.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for development of test strategy and approach across multiple projects being delivered in releases or standalone
• Responsible for identifying which projects require cross vendor testing and which projects in a release require cross project testing
• Participate in all project related meetings and workshops and gain a better understanding of the application that is being developed
• Coordinate a cross-functional team of developers, business analysts and business users to design and create appropriate test scripts
• Planning resources for forthcoming test releases/projects
• Record all test case results, anomalies and status’ and communicate same to the development team, business analysts, project managers and business sponsors
• Co-ordinate test efforts carried out by business users across different functions, locations and involving third parties as required
• Support business user testing by providing appropriate test data and test conditions, supporting user test planning and ensuring change management processes are adhered to.
• Manage and co-ordinate the setup of multiple applications and test environments and the refresh of data on said systems
• Liaise with business users to ensure all changes achieve the required level of User Acceptance testing prior to release
• Support management through positive and proactive participation within the team and active collaboration with colleagues across the programme as appropriate
• Maintain and monitor standards, controls, processes etc to minimise business and IT risk, while ensuring full compliance with all group, legal and regulatory requirements and standards
Key Requirements:

• Desired 5 years’ experience working as a test manager or similar role
• Extensive experience of both manual and automated testing techniques and tools
• Excellent knowledge of SQL / creating moderately complex SQL queries
• Knowledge and understanding of automated testing
• Experience of Agile Development Methodology is desirable
• Knowledge of mobile, web browser testing an advantage
• Minimum degree level qualification in computer science, BIS or related discipline
