IS Solutions Architects' Qualifications and Experience:



Successful candidate to have 10+ years enterprise technology experience, with a proven track record in the delivery of IT enabled change.
Proven solution architecture, design, and implementation experience with large scale projects.
Extensive experience of Microsoft and Oracle technologies.
A broad understanding of application, information and infrastructure technologies & industry best practices.
Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to communicate technical issues and strategy to both technical and non-technical audiences; backed-up with strong interpersonal skills
Bachelor's Degree or Masters in Computer Systems or Software Engineering or related technical discipline.


Desirable

Middleware and integration design experience.
Architecture Certification and Accreditation (TOGAF, IASA, ITIL, etc.)

IT SECURITY DESIGN CONSULTANT

Background / Purpose of Role:

The IT Security Designer Consultant is responsible designing and / or reviewing solutions and services being introduced to the company, assessing them for any potential control gaps
Key responsibilities:

1. Design security controls for proposed solutions to meet relevant IT Security standards and guidelines
• Work with solution architects & designers to ensure that the appropriate security controls are included and embedded into solution designs to meet the security control objectives
• Ensure that any gaps are addressed in a timely fashion
• Provide guidance and support to solution design teams for any security-related matters.

2. Carry out objective assessment of the security aspects of a proposed solution to
• identify all relevant IT Security components
• identify all relevant IT Security standards and guidelines
• identify all designed controls
• identify all required controls
• identify and document where the design introduces risk to the company or compounds an existing risk
• ensure that the documented solution provides appropriate controls which are aligned to the business’s control requirements for the data assets being protected
• document and agree gaps and recommendations

3. Assist the IT project teams in securing a managed infrastructure and application penetration testing service to include
• scoping a penetration test in conjunction with the relevant Project Team
• selecting an appropriate vendor to perform a penetration test
• interpreting any identified risks for the project team/business

4. Carry out objective examination and provide a report on the appropriateness of the technical & logical controls implemented and executed by 3rd Party suppliers where that 3rd Party carry out services for the company.

5. Carry out objective examination and assess the appropriateness of mitigating operational controls to be implemented where an element or complete existing technical standard cannot be met due to operational or technical constraint.

6. Schedule and manage External Vulnerability tests, and interpret any identified risks for the project team/business

7. Carry out objective assessment of firewall change requests to ensure that each change or series of changes to firewalls:
• Conforms to IT Security policies & Standards
• Identifies where the change introduces a risk to the company or compounds an existing risk
• is aligned to the business’s control requirements for the data asset being accessed or transferred as defined by the data confidentiality /integrity / availability classifications.

8. Carry out objective assessment for examining and reporting on the appropriateness of the security controls implemented and executed by a Cloud Service Provider (CSP) where the CSP carry out one or more of the following activities :
• host virtual infrastructure that processes, stores or transmits data (Amazon Web Services)
• host a platform that runs software or services processing, storing or transmitting company data (like Microsoft Azure)
• host software that processes, stores or transmits company data (like Cisco WebEx)
• processes, stores, transmits or displays data that can be linked back to the company

9. Carry out the weekly activities required to manage Restricted Software.

Management Support
• Support Management with the embedding of IT Security culture and behaviours
• Positive and proactive participation within the team and active collaboration with colleagues across the Group as appropriate
Key Requirements of this role:
Skills & Experience

• CISSP, CISMP or recognised equivalent.
• Good technical knowledge across a variety of platforms
• Good technical knowledge of network protocols and related technologies
• Experience across a number of relevant IT disciplines
• Strong knowledge of IT Security best practice
• 3rd Level qualification in IT or equivalent experience is preferred
• Some knowledge of information security and risk control frameworks such as COBiT, ISO 27001, ISO 27002
• A relevant security or architecture certification such as SABSA or TOGAF would be an advantage.

IT SECURITY CONSULTANT

Background / Purpose of Role:

The IT Security Consultant is responsible for reviewing solutions and services being introduced to the company, assessing them for any potential control gaps

Key responsibilities:

Carry out objective assessment of the security aspects of a proposed solution to

identify all relevant IT Security components
identify all relevant IT Security standards and guidelines
identify all designed controls
identify all required controls
identify and document where the design introduces risk to the company or compounds an existing risk
ensure that the documented solution provides appropriate controls which are aligned to the business’s control requirements for the data assets being protected
document and agree gaps and recommendations


Assist the IT project teams in securing a managed infrastructure and application penetration testing service to include

scoping a penetration test in conjunction with the relevant Project Team
selecting an appropriate vendor to perform a penetration test
interpreting any identified risks for the project team/business


Carry out objective examination and provide a report on the appropriateness of the technical & logical controls implemented and executed by 3rd Party suppliers where that 3rd Party carry out services for the company.



Carry out objective examination and assess the appropriateness of mitigating operational controls to be implemented where an element or complete existing technical standard cannot be met due to operational or technical constraint.



Schedule and manage External Vulnerability tests, and interpret any identified risks for the project team/business



Carry out objective assessment of firewall change requests to ensure that each change or series of changes to firewalls:

Conforms to IT Security policies & Standards
Identifies where the change introduces a risk to the company or compounds an existing risk
is aligned to the business’s control requirements for the data asset being accessed or transferred as defined by the data confidentiality /integrity / availability classifications.

Carry out objective assessment for examining and reporting on the appropriateness of the security controls implemented and executed by a Cloud Service Provider (CSP) where the CSP carry out one or more of the following activities :

host virtual infrastructure that processes, stores or transmits data (Amazon Web Services)
host a platform that runs software or services processing, storing or transmitting company data (like Microsoft Azure)
host software that processes, stores or transmits company data (like Cisco WebEx)
processes, stores, transmits or displays data that can be linked back to the company


Carry out the weekly activities required to manage Restricted Software.

Management Support

Support Management with the embedding of IT Security culture and behaviours
Positive and proactive participation within the team and active collaboration with colleagues across the Group as appropriate


Key Requirements of this role:

Skills & Experience



CISSP, CISMP or recognised equivalent.
Good technical knowledge across a variety of platforms
Good technical knowledge of network protocols and related technologies
Experience across a number of relevant IT disciplines
Strong knowledge of IT Security best practice
3rd Level qualification in IT or equivalent experience is preferred
Some knowledge of information security and risk control frameworks such as COBiT, ISO 27001, ISO 27002

• Strong background in the installation and configuration of Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) in a windows server environment with regard to fault tolerant enterprise design
• Strong background in Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) best practice development across development/test/live environments.
• Strong background in data warehouse design and integration of heterogenous data sources using ODI including real time data sources necessitating use of Oracle Goldengate and CDC
• Background in Oracle PL/SQL and SQL Query tuning
• Knowledge of materialised views, sql loader, temporary tables, CDC and other oracle approaches to data integration
• Knowledge of .net framework and integration of ODI with .net applications
• Relevant experience in implementing enterprise solutions as described above, as well as production of technical specifications and support guides;

A number of major systems implementation projects have been completed, including Student Management System, Web Presence and Portal Services, On-line Learning Management and a technology enabled course delivery infrastructure. The provision of ICT services is underpinned by a technical architecture, consisting of a number of hosted services, an education network, multimedia services, internal services, and single sign-on transparent access for users.

The Service Delivery Manager is required to ensure effective delivery of the ICT production environment and high quality services and support for its users. The Service Delivery Manager is responsible for managing the technical aspects of ICT projects and user support. The manager will lead a support team and plays a key role in implementing and operating technology and software. The position requires a broad range of technical skills in managing a diverse operational environment with a focus on customer service and supplier liaison. A keen interest in applying technology in education experience is required. Experience of a varied technical infrastructure and demanding service environment is required.
