Description: Network Infrastructure Engineer - 6 months Daily Rate
Our client is to complete a major refurbishment of their offices in parallel with the re-implementation of their new infrastructure systems and they are looking for a hands on Senior Infrastructure Engineer on contract for approx. 6 months. They will pay a top daily rate as they are looking for a Senior 2nd/ 3rd level Engineer for the role.
This role will work with the Infrastructure Manager and the building refurbishment Project Management to ensure the smooth implementation / transition of the new and existing infrastructure to the new office environment. In addition the role will work closely with on-site deskside engineering to help support users during the transition period.
This is a unique opportunity for a candidate with vision, energy and ambition, to help transform the IT infrastructure in a rapidly developing business and information technology environment.
Key Responsibilities
•Ensure the successful implementation of the new office from an IT perspective, ensuring delivery is aligned with agreed designs
•Perform facility surveys for network communications and engineer the layout and location of network components, equipment, cabling, and wiring
•Design high performance wired and wireless converged network that supports voice and data services incorporating multiple vendors
•Install and configure network hardware and software infrastructure components according to best practices, including routers, switches, wifi controllers and firewalls
•Work within established security, configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
•Lead the migration of the existing office staff to the new network
•Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues and liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications and Experience
•Likely to have a degree in engineering, information systems, computer science or related subject (Advanced degree desirable)
•Professional qualifications and industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP Voice (mandatory), VMWare VCP, Microsoft MCSE, CISSP would be advantageous
•Expert knowledge of networking industry standards covering WAN/LAN, voice (VoIP/SIP), data, cabling (Fibre/Copper) deployment, TCP/IP protocols, IPSEC VPN
•Strong knowledge and hands-on experience of Cisco switches, Routers, firewalls and Cisco Call Manager preferably within availability deployments
•Good knowledge of Windows Servers infrastructure (2008-2012) networking within high-availability deployments including SMTP, DNS, DHCP
•Knowledge of VMware ESX/vSphere
•5+ years of technology experience in a regulated industry. Financial Services Industry a plus
•5+ years of troubleshooting experience, individually or via a managed team
•Proven track record in working with 3rd party vendors and consultants in the delivery of large programs of work

Key Duties / Responsibilities:

Supporting the existing Retail Execution Project Team during the implementation of Stay in Front Touch to multiple European Countries on time and with minimal business disruption by:

• Applying conceptual knowledge and technology to solve complex business requirements
• Assist existing team to design, configure, and test SIF applications
• Assist Business Users to test and document issues
• Take ownership of issues assigned from testing and bring to resolution
• Work remotely with members of Business and IT project Team
• Provide post go-live support to key users
• Transfer your knowledge where incremental to the existing team

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

A minimum of a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business/Finance or Engineering and appropriate SAP qualifications required.

Business & Technical Experience & Skills:

The Business Analyst to generate process maps, procedure guides and general day to day delivery of projects in support of customer and/or internal business requirements.

Responsibilities


• Rapidly understanding complex subject matter, identifying opportunities / challenges and developing appropriate solutions to meet requirements;
• Creation of both procedure guides and maps;
• Work cross divisionally and on own accord with both customer and internal senior management / governance forums to develop clear and innovative proposals which meet business and commercial requirements;
• Interpret requirements to develop and agree robust solutions for presentation and approval of senior internal and external stakeholders;
• Drive the creation of UAT test cases and scripts
• Manage UAT and act as the liaison between the business and IT


Experience:

• Circa 1-2 years experience in a project environment in a BA capacity
• Banking & Finance Industry experience essential;
• Process re-engineering experience essential;
• Visio experience essential;
Experience working within financial services out sourcing environment is highly desirable but not essential.
