IS Information Architect



Role Description:



This is an opportunity for someone to operate at a strategic level to shape and influence data strategy and make a real impact as part of a centralised architecture function. The role reports to the Governance and Planning Manager.



Key Responsibilities of IS Information Architect:

Lead efforts to establish, define, maintain and communicate data architecture guidelines, principles, standards and best practices across the enterprise.
Establish and maintain models and artefacts that describe how data is processed, stored, and utilized in the company.
Analyse the current integration environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement.
Analyse technology industry and market trends, and determine their potential impact on the enterprise.
Maintain a strong knowledge of multi-methodology and best practice in the areas of data modeling, data architecture, data quality and cleansing, and data integration processes.
Create architecture models that reflect our IT strategy and business priorities.
Support the Application Portfolio Management process:
Influencing portfolio planning to ensure cohesion and alignment with business and roadmaps.
Assist in reducing the complexity and total cost of ownership of the portfolio by providing architectural expertise in the assessment and selection of new or enhanced services.
Participate in the Architecture and Strategy steering group as appropriate, to ensure that solution designs complies with the overall architecture and strategy.
Assist in the delivery of objective and impartial technology and application assessments, ensuring informed decision making.
Deliver presentations and report Management.
Communicating effectively to stakeholders via meetings, presentations and reports.
Advocate best practices and principles.
Critical Knowledge, Skills and Experience: of IS Information Architect

Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, computer engineering technology management or other relevant degree.
5-10 years’ professional experience in information/data architecture.
Expert communicator with outstanding interpersonal skills – able to translate complex concepts into information that senior management and staff can understand.
Extensive experience in defining and maintaining conceptual, logical and physical data models, data standards, naming conventions and data flow diagrams.
Excellent knowledge in data quality and management, integration processes, databases and analytics.
Experiences in database, data warehouse, transaction processing and business intelligence infrastructure technology solutions.
A good understanding of business operations and the commercial viability and impact of technical / professional decisions on the performance of the organisation.
Driver of high standards for individual, team and organisational accomplishment and delivering desired results.
Experience in some of the following market areas: public sector, telecoms, finance, transport, energy and utilities.


Desirable:

Master’s Degree in computer science, computer engineering technology management or other relevant degree.
Knowledge of Big Data, NoSQL and Hadoop.
Experience in Utility industry, Energy Management Systems or Market Management Systems.
Industry certification in data/database architecture.
ITIL Certification.

The successful technical Writer will own the entire documentation production process; from creating doc templates and styles guides, through writing the content, having it reviewed, administering the release cycle, versioning, maintenance and carrying out the training to both our staff and to our clients

You will enhance product documentation, ensuring quality, usability, completeness and timely delivery.

You will use and explore the product to understand how it works, liaise with our savvy developers and product owners on new features to be documented, identify areas for improvement in the existing documentation and lend your expertise in proofreading and editing various other kinds of written material.

Responsibilities
• Maintain, update and enhance existing documentation, and create new documentation for company products. This includes User Guides, Installation Guides, Technical Environment Guidelines, Release Notes and customer-specific supplements among others
• Write with clarity, simplicity and flair
• Create and use a style guide and standard templates.
• Create diagrams, take screenshots and perform basic image editing.
• Use various tools such as Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat.
• Collaborate with members of various departments (such as solution architects, business analysts and software engineers) to update existing documentation and to produce new documents.
• Edit and format documents by other staff members to ensure that the material follows the style guide.
• Follow stringent version-control procedures and keep an accurate record of changes made to documents.


Skills:
• 4 years of experience in writing software product documentation.
• Formal education in a writing programme is ideal but not necessary. Good writing experience may substitute for formal training.
• You have at least a Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, new media or information technology
• You need to be proficient in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat
• Experience with all aspects of the software development life cycle.

I. POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Quality Assurance Performance Engineer will support testing activities for projects covering application changes across a number of products and platforms. Responsibilities will include assisting with test design, and performing test execution for designated projects, together with support for our continuous process improvement activities and liaising with business colleagues, technical architects, analysts, vendors, and development teams in a fast moving, global working environment. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

II. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONS:
This position reports to the Global QA Associate Director and is a key position within the Quality Assurance Management Team.

III. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Ability and expertise to identify performance issues within J2EE architecture Load Balancers, Weblogic, Database (Oracle), Operating System (Windows, UNIX), Network, Software (JAVA) and Hardware.
• Hands-on experience in building enterprise level performance test suites.
• Excellent ability to partner with Architects, Developers, Systems Engineers and Database Administrators to collaboratively tune systems.
• Thorough understanding and hands on experience with performance testing tools such as HP Performance Center (LoadRunner) including open source tools.
• Expert ability to dissect large amounts of data and identify potential issues across releases.
• Excellent skills in summarizing large amount of metrics into meaningful graphs and reports.
• Strong knowledge of Web Service, XML technologies (SOAP, WSDL, XML).
• Experience with Oracle SQL.
• Solid programming skills in JAVA and SQL.
• Extensive JAVA and SQL performance tuning experience (e.g. garbage collection, heap management, JVM Configuration, query optimization etc.).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and constant communication to senior management/ stakeholders.

IV. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
• This position requires excellent technical and interpersonal skills.
• 4 year degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or relational functional field and/or equivalent combination of education or work experience.
• 6+ years of performance engineering experience; developing software benchmarks, benchmark testing, performance analysis and tuning, performance testing and programming experience ( Java EE, Web Services Technologies, SOAP and/or REST)
• Strong experience with application servers (WebSphere, WebLogic) and database technologies (Oracle and SQL Server)
• Strong experience in UI/Web 2.0 Development (JavaScript, Ajax, Adobe Flash/Flex, Dojo)
• Strong knowledge of UNIX and Windows operating systems
• Strong experience with the full software development lifecycle and software development methodologies (Agile)

• 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in Capital Markets, Investment Banking, Hedge Fund Services or other major financial experience such as Financial Accounting, Time and Billing
