Job Description
Key accountabilities for this role are:
• Work with Infrastructure (Basis) Lead to support SAP landscape
• Identify and manage Basis issues throughout the project and work with the technical team to develop mitigation/resolution plans
• Co-ordinate and perform maintenance & refresh of SAP/MII test environments
• Manage and co-ordinate NA DBA team for SAP HP/ECC Landscape changes and incidents
• Manage and submit changes and service requests to HP for SAP Landscape
• Ensure correct and accurate documentation for system builds as required for testing, cutover, and wave go-lives
• Manage technical cut overs, change deployments and data updates
• Responsible for HA and DR testing for all SAP systems
• Design Technical Strategy for SAP MII Applications and Infrastructure and roll out to new sites. Align with Solutions Architect on hardware and infrastructure standards, including upgrade roadmap and planning.
• Drive the planning, delivery and setup of SAP and MII infrastructure to sites working with local teams
• Install/configure SAP & MII project and sustain systems
• Maintain secure interfaces between SAP ECC systems, and manage availability - SAP Basis & SQL skills.
• Build out and maintain Responsibility & Accountability model for MII sustain support, develop and support global virtual tech team for SAP MII sustain
• Capacity planning - own DBA & MII, support SAP
Qualifications/Requirements
• skilled SAP Basis Administrator with over 10 years of IT experience and 5 years of SAP BASIS administrator experience
• demonstrates knowledge associated with 5+ years of hands-on experience with SAP/Basis Administration across multiple SAP landscapes.
• Must have prior experience in installing and configuring ECC 6.0 on UNIX/Oracle. Preferably experience in PI (XI) 7.0, BI 7.0 and Portal 7.0 on HPUX/Oracle.
• Experience in SAP Landscape and client design and setup.
• Unix skills (preferable HPUX) , Windows
• Basic DBA skills (Oracle and MSSQL Server)
• Ability to work with the business and solutions team to understand their requirements
• Understanding of interfaces to shop floor systems/willingness to learn
• Ability to work as part of a virtual team to resolve technical issues in line with standard guidelines.
• Excellent global interpersonal skills & communication skills and a high degree of professionalism in managing and supporting global teams
• Ability to mentor & delegate to virtual team members in other sites, Demonstrated ability to work with multiple teams, vendors and offshore partners in multiple time zones globally.
• High levels of enthusiasm and energy and works well in a team environment.

My client based in North Dublin is looking for a SAP Basis Administrator for a permanent position. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate looking for career progression.

Responsibilities

• Install, Configure, Manage SAP ECC, SAP Netweaver BW/BI/BPC environments
• Migration experience essential.
• Create and Implement Disaster Recovery process for RDBMS Database Environment
• Create backup and restore plans for RDBMS Environments
• Capacity planning for RDBMS Environment
• Install, Configure and Manage Solution Manager
• Business as usual Support , Daily Checks.
• Transports, Critical Jobs, Resolve Dumps, Buffers, DBACockpit
• SAP Backup and Recovery
• Supporting SAP on Unix Essential (preferably HPUX)
• Managing tablespace growth.
• Monitor and tune the system to achieve optimum performance levels.
• ST03N Performance Tuning
• Perform other RDBMS and SAP duties as needed
• Planning of Kernel/Support Pack Upgrades
• Ensure SAP & Database availability and performance
• Provide out of hours support within the IT Support SLA based on 24/7 availability should a call be escalated by software or the servicedesk.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve SAP & DB problems and provide critical updates when required.
• Ensure site documentation is properly updated at the time that changes are made to syncreon systems.

Education:

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, business administration or commerce –OR-
• A combination of equivalent professional training and certifications, combined with a minimum of four years related work experience in a position(s) with increasing responsibility and supervisory duties may be accepted.
• At least 5 years of experience in SAP and RDBMS Administration
• English (fluent), other languages as required. Strong written and verbal skills in English.
• Experience working in an environment of multiple SAP/DB platforms and applications.
