Description: A new role has opened up for a Release/ SCM Manager. The required person needs to have a hands-on Release background as well.
People who also have experience in one or more of Weblogic(admin skills), Maven, Ant, Hudson Build Server, Apache Tomcat, Unix, SQL, Java, MircroFocus COBOL, CVS.
Release manager role would be as follows:
Manages demanding release schedule and including business liaison to validate business priorities with key stakeholders
Accountable for the delivery of releases in alignment with the overall release strategy and vision.
Acts as a single point of contact for delivery of releases, collaborating with delivery team leads to ensure sufficient level of quality in each release
Provide management oversight of the release process, including delegation of responsibilities to all personnel required to ensure successful delivery of the release within the scope of the co-source.
Allocates / balances available resource supply against forecast demand.
Develops and communicates detailed release plans and sets delivery expectations with key stakeholders. Updates and communicates release status. Escalates issues in a timely manner where required.
Interacts extensively with the functional team leads in the estimation cycle, identification of inter-team dependencies, delivery plan validation, impact assessments, issue tracking / resolution, and status reporting.
Ensures user acceptance tests completed, all defects addressed, and all service requests contained in the release were signed off by the requestors.
Ensures all required regression testing activities were completed successfully.
Verifies if the required training was provided to the affected user community.
Makes sure a comprehensive back-out plan exists and was validated.
Makes sure the release is deployed according to the release plan.
Monitors the production environment post-release for any unexpected situations, and make sure remedial action is taken as quickly as possible.
Facilitates post-release evaluation meetings to discuss issues and identify improvement opportunities after major releases.
Acts as a conduit to the change management team to communicate the release plan and assess change activity impacts to the release plan.
Coordinates cross team integration activities.
Proactively identifies and manages situations or concerns that adversely affect service delivery. Escalates issues as required.
Experienced in automated build scripting technologies such as ant and maven to define an automate release process
Experience of continuous integration and automated testing
Manage and prioritise day to day activities of release team

Responsibilties
-To write and edit documentation including API Guides, User Manuals, Installation Guides, etc. for complex software applications in the financial industry
To update documentation for each major software release and to amend the documentation to reflect new features during the development cycle
To regularly update the documentation based on customer requests
To collect and gather technical and functional information from various sources to be used in the documentation based on the features list
To translate technical concepts into easy-to-understand text or operating procedures
To work closely with R&D and QA and other Technical Writers
Applicants must have the following:
Ideally 2-4 years experience in Technical Writing, with at least 1 year writing for Software
Experience of the following tools: Adobe Framemaker, Acrobat and Distiller, MS Office and Visio, Source control such as CVS or Clearcase
Documented/Worked with at least one of the following technologies: Financial Systems, C++/C#/COM, Distributed Systems, Relational Databased (Oracle 8 or 9)

Our client based in Dublin is a leading international provider of Financial Software systems and solutions. Due to ongoing growth and development they are looking to recruit a Software Configuration Management Engineer to join their team.
Role: Working in a team with other Software Configuration Management engineers the role would involve active participation in build & continuous integration on development projects, development environment set-up, maintenance and improvement, tech stack set-up and continuous investigation of ways to improve development productivity using support tools.
Accountabilities
Configuration Management
Ensure integrity of the sources / deliverables. (This is achieved by comparison of the source modified with the previous version of the source and confirming that all the changes done to the source are properly identified with the necessary tags / developer. By also verifying that the build of the software is done as per the procedure.)
Ensure traceability and retrievability of sources and deliverables. (Traceability is achieved through ensuring that the check-in of the files are done in the right environment and by using the right package. Verification of the checked-in configuration items through the listing / reports generated by the SCM tool. Retrievability is achieved through periodical check-out of the latest/previous version of the configuration items from the SCM tool and comparing them with the configuration items available in standard areas / storage locations maintained for comparison)
Provide effective solutions by implementing the configuration management & build best practices by exploiting the SCM tools features for efficient configuration management & build activities. Provide guidance to development & QA teams to support different development methodologies in the areas of SCM.
Review and provide inputs to the Project Manager / Senior Managers to approve and confirm the project configuration and build management plan.
Implement and continuously improve reliable and speedy build environments for development & QA. Provide build status timely. Automate as much as possible to improve efficiency and quality.
Ensure that escrow and other contractual obligations are met.
Provide training to developers on source code management.
Mentor the Configuration Management Engineers.
Estimate the efforts required for Configuration Management Activities for projects and agree schedules with the Manager.
Understand and execute the packaging and deployment process
Liaise with managers and keep them informed of progress.
Academic and professional qualifications
Successful completion of a Bachelors Degree
Experience
