The successful candidate will possess the following skills:
* Very strong Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 database design / development experience (T-SQL) particularly working with large and complex databases.
*ETL skills through T-SQL (including dynamic SQL) and SSIS essential.
*Proven knowledge and understanding of good database administration principles.
*Experience with very large databases essential.
*Query and index tuning experience.
*Knowledge of database tools (including SSMS, SSRS and SSAS)
*Database deployment and patching experience
*.Net development experience C#/VB.NET (2.0/3.5).
*Scripting and automation experience distinct advantage
*Excellent analytic, communication and interpersonal skills.
*Solid documentation skills.
*Experience using any of; Python, C++ or UNIX while not essential would be an advantage.

City Centre based Banking client has a requirement for an Oracle DBA.

The purpose of the role is:
To develop system application software according to specified designs.
To participate in the development of development standards in a range of technologies along with the database team.

Key Accountabilities
· Develop and maintenance of the production systems.
· Provide DBA knowledge in solving performance related problems.
· Develop scripts to automate the database administrative tasks

Person Specification
1. Education / Experience
· Minimum 5 years DBA experience
· An academic qualification in Information Technology
· Financial services experience

2. Competencies
Mandatory:
· Oracle: 9i or 10g working with 24/7 environments
· MS SQL Server
· PL SQL Programming
· UNIX: some experience in shell scripting.
· Excellent all-round IT knowledge essential
· Excellent problem solving skills
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, such as Excel, Word, Powerpoint

Dublin based leading Banking client currently requires an experienced permanent Oracle DBA with 3-4 years commercial experience to join their team.

Oracle DBA Job Description:
Oracle Applications DBA to provide support and maintenance for new and existing applications and systems specifically those based on Oracle Architecture, for their large global multinational programme in Dublin, within the Application Delivery Support team

Role :
• Take responsibility for the development, support and maintenance of Oracle based systems and applications within to ensure business service levels are achieved
• Maintain and develop documentation related to designated support and development activities
• Keep the Application Support Manager informed of any IS issues within the department which require attention
Ideally you will have
• A strong technical knowledge of Oracle database applications/technology and must be able to work independently
• Previous applications development knowledge of some/all of the following; Oracle PL/SQL, Oracle Reports, Oracle Discoverer, Oracle Forms, Oracle Workflow, Oracle Applications Framework (OAF), XML Publisher/BI Publisher
The successful Oracle DBA will come on board and report into the Senior Manager and handle aspects of their customers and internal Oracle database requirements and undergo responsibilities such as:
• Becoming familiar with current database schemas
• Performing the best practice DB design, configuration and usage with the development and support teams
• Maintaining the database schema for the product range with generation of database migration scripts, maintenance scripts etc
• Write and update content for our clients training courses and documentation using best practice procedures, methodologies and tools

Oracle DBA Skill Set:
• Experience working with Oracle 11g would be a preference
• Experience working in an IT development team
• Excellent knowledge of SQL and capable with relational database design ideally with experience of database modelling tools
• Oracle database configuration and administration
• Performance diagnosis / solution implementation
• Preventative maintenance tasks
• Bulk data transfer methods
