Description: The Senior Data Modeler (also known as Data Architects or Information Architects) will be responsible for the analysis and design of data models at the conceptual, logical and physical levels and for the development and maintenance of existing enterprise models.
The Senior Modeler is responsible for transforming business information into models (most often logical data models) and managing the enterprise data model. The emphasis on this position is the "modeling of the business" that is required for a successful data warehouse. This goes beyond the role of a typical application level "data modeler" in that it requires modeling from an "enterprise perspective" rather than from a single business perspective.
The Business Information Modeler is proficient in industry standard techniques for process modeling and data modeling. Within data modeling, the Business Information Modeler must be proficient in 3rd normal form relational modeling. Dimensional modeling experience would be a strong added value for online analytical processing. This role must be experienced in group facilitation with participants from diverse business functions and work skills. The Business Information Modeler may be the Lead Consultant on a project.
Responsibilities:
" Demonstrated senior level capabilities in conceptual analysis, problem solving, and data analysis, with ability to lead and facilitate business requirements and data analysis and modeling sessions.
" Provides support in the use of enterprise data, including guidance in understanding and exploitation of the underlying data and business models, and identifying optimal data sourcing and mapping.
" Works with business leaders to create Conceptual Architectures that align business needs with Target State Architecture.
" Assists in developing and publishing data management standards, policies and procedures, including the management and maintenance of related tools and environments.
" Create and review standard data deliverables, ensuring adherence to defined corporate standards and definitions.
" Responsible for coaching and mentoring less experienced team members
" Actively participate and lead the data mapping exercise. Take ownership of all mapping deliverables and ensure successful hand-over to the technical team.
REQUIREMENTS:
" Experience with enterprise Data preferred,
" Five + years' experience in relational data modeling required, with experience in both project and enterprise level models.
" Five + years in the corporate sector preferable
" Experience coordinating information requirements of multiple departments, including assessment of usefulness, reliability and cleanliness of data from several sources.
" Ability to effectively present complex technical information to non-technical audiences and to senior decision-makers.
" Proactively engage with the project stake-holders and understand requirements
" Experience with ERWIN (V9) as modeling tool is required, with additional Model Mart management experience preferred.
" Strong SDLC knowledge, with excellent process and system documentation skills.
" Solid understanding of Data Management and Metadata Management process and principles, with ability to effectively communicate and sell those ideas to others.
" Demonstrated success working in a team-based environment.
" Information systems project management experience required.
" Requires strong decision-making, organizational, planning and problem solving skills.
" Excellent analytical skills required.
" Strong facilitation and negotiation skills required.
" Strong communication skills required; technical and business writing skills are required.
" Strong interpersonal skills, with competence in interfacing with business users required
Additional Skills:
" Experience with data administration is a plus
" Experience with Metadata Management and Master Data Management is a plus
