The Core Responsibilities of the role are:
Development:
•Database Design, Capacity Analysis and System Sizing
•Design and development of reports
•Design and development of user interfaces
•Develop APIs as required for the core system.
•To implement interface test capability to assist in the development of the ITS smart card reader.
•Working as part of a technical team, liaise with designers, developers, to deliver this functionality.
•To identify, analyse and implement additional system requirements.
•Work with technical teams to implement these requirements.
•Work with suppliers to integrate third party software into the core system.
•Carry out technical appraisals and approvals of specifications developed for the system
•Research new features and products.

Experience Required:
•Have 5+ years proven software development experience.
•Have 3rd level qualification in a relevant subject
•Have demonstrable experience of system implementation including design, development and deployment phases of a project
•Have experience of challenging the norm or status quo of intransigent groups or organisations
•Have experience of :
oRelational Databases (Oracle, DB2)
oIBM WebSphere MQ
oXML
oUNIX environment scripting

oDetail oriented
oComfortable working in a fast changing, Agile environment
oSelf-driven and motivated
oCapable of working unsupervised

Desirably,
•Candidates should have knowledge of smartcards.
•Knowledge of e-payment and e-commerce.
•Knowledge of software security systems e.g. RSA and DES etc.
•AIX/*nix knowledge would be advantageous.

•Provide database administration for mission-critical custom and packaged software applications.

•Design storage strategies around backup and recovery for complex database environments, physical structures, and specialized database applications - Enterprise Rapid Recovery

•Provide support for companies DB2 Distributed databases



•Administration of DB2 Distributed implementations, including database definition, structure, documentation, and long-range requirements



Qualifications:


•Demonstrated experience in disaster recovery planning and testing.

•At least 5 years experience working with IBM DB2 Enterprise Server Edition (ESE) on UNIX (AIX) v8 and v9 (strong preference in a production support role)

•Experience with IBM DB2 Database Partition Facility (DPF) on UNIX (AIX) v8 and v9 in a data warehousing environment

•Experience with IBM DB2 on UNIX (AIX) - database monitoring and tuning

•Experience with server optimization and consolidation

•Experience with High Availability environments
•Proven SQL tuning experience

•Detailed knowledge of the UNIX Server platform (AIX preferred)

•Understanding of systems development processes and business processes

•Proven analytic skills and strong judgment
