Description of Role:
My client is looking for a UI developer to take a hands on role in expanding the features of their existing Swing client, but also to take a leading role in working to develop the next generation interface to the clients product.
Strong Swing UI development skills are essential along with excellent Java skills.
This role will suit those with a keen eye for visual interfaces, with an excellent understanding of good user interface design.
• Work within a team of engineers to develop and improve the Swing client
• Contribute to all aspects of the SDLC, from specification and design, development, integration, rollout and maintenance
• Technical Environment: Java, Swing, SwingX, JFreeChart

Skills/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent technology discipline.
• 3+ Years experience software development experience using Java
• Strong Java, Swing and general UI Skills
• Experience with development tools such as Netbeans, Eclipse, ANT and Subversion.
• Experience in any of the following an advantage:
• Netbeans RPC
• Swing Docking Frameworks
• Application Installer tools.
• XML Technologies including JAXB
• Bean Validation (JSR 303)
• Dependency Injection (Spring)
• Strong Understanding of Design Patterns, especially MVC.
• Strong Analysis, design, and estimation skills
• Excellent Problem Solving Skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

Description: My Dublin City Centre based client currently requires an experienced QA Engineer to join their existing team. The role combines hands on functional testing tasks with additional responsibility for all UI, browser, and back end tools testing.

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Hands on functional testing of projects against requirements though the entire project life cycle.
• Ability to deliver high level test schedules, test case, test plans and test data for assigned projects.
• Confident to hold test documentation reviews with project teams and obtain sign off.
• Interested in all aspects of UI testing, browser versions, flash as well as back end tool functions.
• Responsible test case creation, test execution, reporting to QA manager.
• Ability to escalate issues to manager.
• Integrate product knowledge from testers, developers and product managers into the testing process.
• Assist in reporting, investigating and debugging software issues in coordination with support and development.
• Experience in bug management and holding triage meetings.
• Ability to understand business system at architecture\component level and liaise with development teams.
• The candidate must have strong numeracy skills and an understanding of exchange fundamentals.
• The candidate must work well within a process driven environment specifically with attention to detail and actively promote adherence to process.


The Successful Candidate:
• Candidate must have a proven track record in all facets of testing with a technically challenging development environment.
• Self starter and has the ability to learn and understand complex systems quickly.

Key Requirements:
• Degree qualified with a minimum of 4/5 years experience in quality assurance in a financial sector.
• Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to grasp issues quickly and make educated, critical judgement.
• This candidate will need to be a good team player and have the ability to work autonomously with a minimum of supervision.
• Experience in working with a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Requirements (essential):
The successful candidate must demonstrate the following:
• 3yrs+ experienced developer in the following application languages and development platforms:
Java with Eclipse, on WebSphere or Tomcat
• IT Degree formal qualification with work experience Or Equivalent 3 yrs+ on the job development experience of Enterprise Java development
• Experience of enterprise middleware (e.g. MQ)
• Lead developer experience on Enterprise Java ( including web service development) projects, plus application servers e.g. WebSphere and Tomcat
• Demonstrable experience in object oriented design and best practices (including design patterns)
• Excellent technology focus on a range of tools/platforms
• Experience of software development projects across the Software Development Life Cycle (including agile development)
• Ability to deal with changing priorities and several problems/issues at the same time
• The ability to work on own initiative, to learn quickly, to problem solve technical issues in a creative yet logical manner, to have a proactive approach to work
• Must be "self starter" and work well in agile teams
• Good inter-personal and communication skills

Key Requirements (desirable):

In addition to the essential experience required, the following experience is desirable:
• Use of automated unit and integration testing, source management, and continuous build tools; especially in the Java environment.

• Knowledge of one or more of the following: financial systems; Windows Server 2008; SQLServer, Unix (AIX), Oracle
