Description: IT Manager
My client is looking for an IT Manager who has 3 sites in ireland and they hire circa 500 staff in Ireland. The role will involve managing a team of three and the IT Manager will look after the IT systems for the LAN/ WAN sites.
Role Title: IT Manager
Role summary:
The ideal candidate will have a strong working background in managing IT in a medium sized manufacturing environment. This position will see the successful candidate combine skills in ERP selection & implementation, project management, and technical expertise in IT infrastructure (LAN/ WAN)/ Vendor Management/ Suppliers.
Key Responsibilities/Key tasks :
• Develop an IT Strategy such that technology provides a basis for business growth
• Project manage the selection and implementation of ERP & best in breed Solutions
• To develop and maintain the technology infrastructure to support the business and its evolving needs
• Implement network security and oversee the administration and maintenance of the company’s infrastructure.
• Agree IT service level targets with other stakeholders, and ensure that these are implemented and monitored
• Manage the IT budget
• Manage the purchasing of all software, hardware and other IT supplies.
• Maintain and develop IT disaster recovery plans.
• Lead, develop & mentor the IT team.
• Develop and manage relationships both internally and with key external stakeholders (suppliers, system partners, etc.).

Along with the duties described above, you will be required to be flexible and to undertake such other work as may be assigned to you from time to time.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience required:
• Over 10 years IT experience, including 5 years in a management role with a proven track record of managing and delivering ERP projects in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of IT service issues and their possible impact on the business and operational service delivery.
• Ability to build relationships & influence at all levels in the organization
• Experience in communicating cross-functionally & across management levels in formal & informal settings.
• Familiar with LAN / WAN technologies.
• Proven track record in team management.
• Excellent negotiation and problem solving skills.
• Strong influencer and delegator.
• Strong Commercial experience.

Senior Back End Test Engineer

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Hands on functional testing of core product function against requirements throughout the entire project life cycle
• Delivery of test schedules, test estimates, test cases and test data for assigned projects
• Responsibility for test execution and reporting to QA and Project Managers
• Bug management, incorporating triage meetings, status reporting, bug categorisation/prioritisation and issue escalation
• Assist in reporting, investigating and debugging software issues in coordination with support and development
• Provide support for production environment release validation and production bug troubleshooting
• Integration of product knowledge from testers, developers and product managers into the testing process
• Continuously contribute to improvement of the Company’s quality processes and procedures
The Successful Candidate:
• Must have a proven track record in all facets of testing within a technically challenging development environment
• Must be a self starter with the ability to learn and understand complex systems quickly
• Will need to be a good team player and have the ability to work autonomously with a minimum of supervision
• Must have experience in industry standard testing, tracing and debugging tools

Key Requirements:
• Degree qualified with a minimum of 4/5 years’ experience in quality assurance, ideally in a financial / high numeracy sector
• Candidate must have
o Minimum 2 years’ experience in managing complex test projects from initialisation through to release
o Minimum of 4 years’ hands on experience across on online and mobile based testing roll using industry standard traffic debugging and tracing tools.
• Must have experience of software development lifecycles and sound knowledge of QA principles and methodologies
• Demonstrated experience in isolating and reproducing issues at a component level with clear documentation to support findings
• Experience in bug management, including triage meetings, bug categorisation and prioritisation, issue escalation and status reporting
• Prior experience in using issue tracking tools (Mantis, Jira etc)
• Experience of UAT testing in conjunction with third party test and project teams
• Working knowledge of MS SQL Server, XML, XHTML, ASP.NET, JavaScript, IIS with basic SQL scripting a benefit.
• The candidate must have strong numeracy and analytical skills for effective problem solving
• Confidence in holding test documentation reviews with project teams and obtaining sign off
• Proven ability to understand business system at architectural\component level and liaise with development teams
• Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to grasp issues quickly and make educated, critical judgement
• Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines is a key requirement
• Experience in testing websites and applications across multiple browser/mobile device platforms would be a distinct advantage

Produce appropriate Test Plans based on customer and product requirements and ensure they are followed.
Ensure QA processes and procedures are documented and understood and followed.
Support non-functional (e.g. Security or Performance testing) testing as owned by engineering team.
Propose QA teams quality procedures, standards and specifications
Automate tests and maintain tests where appropriate.
Execute manual tests as required.
Produce release notes as required.
Create and maintain QA Test Environments as required.
Collaborate with developers, solution architects, business analysts, customer services, customer solutions, and product managers to ensure the successful implementation of projects and releases.
Actively participate in an Agile development environment.
Work with Customer teams to ensure that their documents meet the needs of the Engineering Team.
Work with developers, Solution Architects, Business Analysts etc to analyse and troubleshoot issues with software and environment inc root cause analysis.
Education / Technical / Professional Qualifications
Degree educated, preferably Computer Science BSc or equivalent
Technical / Professional Skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience in testing role on a QA team
Functional Testing and exposure to Automation
Load and Performance Testing
Familiarity with general QA Tools (e.g. reviews, inspections)
Working knowledge of Unix/Linux or Windows
Working knowledge of Ruby scripting or similar
Experience in testing (Internet/Web related applications a plus)
Excellent analytical skills
Previous experience with ETL tools or similar would be beneficial, but not necessary.
Experience working on financial software products would be a distinct advantage

Main Responsibilities:
• Developing and implementation of test plans and test scripts for verifying and validating Mainframe and Web applications.
• Executing both manual and automated test plans for existing application.
• Software testing to include functional scenarios, regression testing, negative testing, error validation, defect retesting, usability and performance testing.
• Identifying, analysing and documenting defects and questionable functions in application functionality.
• Ensuring that QA operates to the highest standards including:
o Determining requirements for test case traceability and test coverage.
o Leveraging and maintaining test plans for new versions of production applications.
o Creating comprehensive test plans with well-defined, reusable test scripts for new software releases.
o Ensuring compliance with auditing and industry standards.
o Supporting Client Testing as required

The Person
It is essential that the successful candidate has:
• Experience in testing quality standards, policies and procedures
• Certification in ISTQB Foundation Course in Software Testing
• Extensive previous, solid experience working in a Testing role.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and technical writing skills.
• Ability to interrogate business processes, analyse specifications and process models to create detailed and complex test conditions and scenarios.

• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, cross departmental and, on occasion, with external clients.
• Experience with the following systems is also desirable: MVS Operating System, TSO, SDSF, FileAid, ENDEVOR and MS SQL Server
• Experience writing and executing automated tests.
• Intermediate SQL skills

This is a permanent position with a Top Financial Services Company based in Dublin 1.
