Description: IT MANAGER

The IT Manager has the following responsibilities

• To manage the IT team and infrastructure to ensure that it is available on a 24 x 7 x 365 basis within the resources available;
• To develop the technology infrastructure to support the business and its evolving needs;
• To develop the IT strategy and long term vision such that technology provides a basis for business growth and reduce friction which might slow down initiatives.
• To participate at senior management level
The IT Manager has the following responsibilities

• To manage the IT team and infrastructure to ensure that it is available on a 24 x 7 x 365 basis within the resources available;
• To develop the technology infrastructure to support the business and its evolving needs;
• To develop the IT strategy and long term vision such that technology provides a basis for business growth and reduce friction which might slow down initiatives.
• To participate at senior management level

• Critical Business Functions:
o Runs the exam adjudication, reporting and publication process on behalf of the business.
o Manages the annual Membership Direct Debits integration to the SAP System.
o Manages the annual terminations process on the CRM system.
• Supplier management:
o Management of hardware maintenance, software maintenance, hosting and infrastructure suppliers.
o Manage down supplier costs and get best value for purchases made.
o Manage suppliers on an ongoing basis to ensure they deliver a high quality of service or provide feedback where necessary.
• Project Management:
o Manage the IT Programme so that all IT requests are planned and so that there is a consistent flow of work through IT.
o Manage requests for change in order to minimise disruption to the business and so that focus is kept on the agreed priorities.
o Develop Project Management policies and procedures.
o Manages all non-development projects to an agreed business methodology.
• Business Support:
o Provide input in non-technical areas of the business as requested.
• Administration:
o Develops budgets and manages spend according to business requirements.
Manages an IT risk register and makes that available where requested.

The IT Manager will possess both strong soft and hard skills. Amongst the soft skills are communications, attention to detail, people management and influencing skills. Also, the ability to negotiate outcomes where necessary.
The IT Manager has a strong understanding of the educational environment, the operation of a Professional Body and the operation of ATI’s exam function. The IT Manager needs to be highly commercial, process orientated, resilient and able to manage many priorities.
The IT Manager also possesses strong operational skills including the following:
o Detailed understanding of hardware, networking, telecommunications, operating systems, DBMS, “the cloud” and development languages.
o Detailed understanding of project management, problem definition, troubleshooting and development methodologies.
o Detailed understanding of the online systems mix and design of an appropriate architecture.
o Detailed understanding of electronic security in the online environment and development for the internet.
o Ability to develop and maintain strong documentation and technology processes.
Ability to develop a budget, negotiate with Finance Committee, monitor and manage spends for the IT Department.

Salary:

€65000 - €75000

Responsibilities will include:
• Gaining a deep understanding of the product and helping our customers understand how best to leverage our product to meet their needs.
• Tuning platform configurations for optimal performance.
• Identifying and delivering optimized solutions as part of our product offering.
• Developing solutions to help automate the installation of the product and platform optimizations.
• Working with others to identify the cause of issues in customer deployments and to develop required solutions.
• Configuration of specific server platforms where the product can be deployed including virtual switches, physical networking components and various networking technologies.

Requirements:
• Self-motivator with excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
• Analytical approach with proven ability to solve complex problems.
• At least 10 years’ experience working with Linux networking.
• At least 5 years’ experience working in detail with a major virtualization technology that is one of VMware ESXi, MS Hyper-V, Xen/XenServer/XCP or KVM.
• Experience with another virtualization technology from the list above.
• Experience with Amazon Web Services, OpenStack and/or CloudStack would be an advantage.
• Scripting experience including bash, python and perl.
• C programming experience, particularly working with device drivers.
• Experience of working in development teams, adhering to team practices and clearly planning, documenting and tracking solutions.
• Educated to a degree level in computer science/engineering or equivalent.
• Experience configuring and working with leading Enterprise servers e.g. Cisco UCS, HP ProLiant, Dell PowerEdge.

Applicants should have:

environments and be proficient in most of the following:
•Strong understanding of Linux systems (particularly RedHat/CentOS/Fedora)
•Excellent IP networking skills
•Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, be self motivated and a team player
•Familiarity with virtualization environments and running systems in virtual machines
•Familiarity with identifying, installing, configuring and maintaining XAMPP and LAMP based opensource tools e.g. mediawiki, bugzilla would be an advantage.

Role and Responsibility
The successful candidate will assist the IT operations team in performing the day to day IT duties for the organisation.
These duties will range from systems administration, testing and/or data analysis.
Key responsibilities:
• Perform basic system administration duties across multiple technical platforms
• Perform regular platform checks and apply necessary bug fixes
• Deploy new application releases
• Troubleshoot internal & external technical customer issues
• Build and deploy various mobile campaigns, across multiple platforms
• Run key daily reports and procedures
• Perform system, regression and unit testing
Candidate Profile
Key attributes / skills:
• Any knowledge of Oracle would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of UNIX or LINUX would be nice to have
• JBoss and/or Tomcat troubleshooting (or familiarity) an advantage
• Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing technical environment
• Should be outgoing with excellent communication skills
• Professional and personal credibility with a good understanding of the corporate industry
• An ability to get on well with others. A positive, proactive "can do" attitude
