Job description
The Cloud Platform Engineering (CPE) Application Support Engineer will be responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation and maintenance of the global CPE infrastructure platform.
This can include provision of cloud instances, streamlining deployments, configuring virtual instances, scaling out database servers and working closely with Engineering teams on a daily basis.

Qualifications
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate experience of automation led solutions.

• A degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science or related fields with related experience preferred
• Familiarity or experience of working with OpenStack, Amazon Web Service, VMWare and other cloud management frameworks
• Strong working knowledge of networking, packet tracing, understanding latency and throughput in order to pinpoint or resolve application issues.
• Thorough knowledge of HTTP(S), SMTP, TLS/SSL, DNS and LDAP
• Proficient in one or more of the following monitoring and logging tools: Zabbix, Nagios, Ganglia, Cacti, collectd, Logstash, Graphite, Cepmon, Splunk,
• Proven experience in technologies including Apache, Nginx, Tomcat, weblogic, JBOSS, MySQL, Qmail, Squid.
• Strong hands-on experience of variants of linux distros
• Experience of system/application administration in a distributed, customer-facing, high-availability and large-scale environments
• Working knowledge of scripting languages including shell, Perl and Python
• Prior experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet and Mcollective

I. POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Middleware Administrator is responsible for deploying and supporting middleware applications using JBOSS, IBM WebSphere MQ and IBM’s middleware / transformation products. The ideal candidate will have seven or more years of experience with middleware administration in a large enterprise environment with a focus on JBOSS.

II. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONS:
This position reports to the Manager of Enterprise Applications.

III. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Deploy, Administer, Support and maintain middleware applications to enable communication between financial applications on diverse platforms with varying interfaces.
• Responsible for the installation, maintenance and configuration of JBOSS EAP, JBOSS JON and EWS environments.
• Assess and identify appropriate changes and make recommendations for implementation.
• Perform JBOSS EAP, MQ/WMB/WAS/ECM etc system administration,troubleshooting, monitoring, problem resolution, system security and change implementation.
• Perform JBOSS installation, administration and documentation.
• Work individually or in a team on various system projects related to UNIX, Linux, Windows and Application support.
• Plan, prepare and apply maintenance fixes and upgrades to JBOSS software.
• Assist application support team with high level problem program debugging through heap and thread dump analysis.
• Provide system support including off shift on call support as and when required. Increase staff skill levels by cross training.

IV. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
• 6+ years IBM WebSphere Message Queing, Application Server, Enterprise Content Manager and Tomcat
• 5+ years experience of the full software development lifecycle.
• Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
• Java and JMS a plus.
• Deployment of JBOSS EAP in an Enterprise environment.
• Should have strong UNIX/Linux operating system administration experience.
• Should have experience working with Tomcat, Apach and other J2EE container technologies.
• Certification / Training in JBOSS.
• Experience with installation, configuration and administration of WebSphere Application Message Broker and Application Servermandatory.
• Experience in deploying clustered, highly available middleware platforms.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Must have quality team building skills, positive attitude, detail oriented, self motivated and strong project management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities that continually change.
• On call or remote support through regular rotation.

Reporting to the SOC Delivery Manager , The Corporation’s Appliance Solutions division is seeking an Appliance SOC Specialist to work in a 24x7 Appliance Security Operations Centre. As a Specialist you will be responsible for supporting our world-class Appliance Monitoring and Service Delivery platform overseeing shift duties and tasks. This hands-on position will be responsible for adhering to proper service management and service delivery processes and practices. You will be monitoring and responding to events affecting customer appliances and services. In this exciting position, you will be empowered to make a difference, optimize the rapidly growing service offering, and position yourself for continued growth.
This is a hands-on technical position where you will be monitoring Appliances and Services deployed at customer sites globally. Using defined service management processes and procedures you will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:

• Appliance and Service Health Monitoring using Appliance and Service monitoring platform.
• Performing Event management by validating events and opening Incidents as necessary using appropriate tools and processes.
• Performing Incident management and determining appropriate solution to resolve the incident.
• Opening Work Request tickets within 3rd Party Partner and Vendor break/fix platforms to resolve the incident.
• Identify and report service issues associated with Appliance and Service Management platform.
• Engage Shift Leadership where necessary to address any back-end issues, policy concerns, exceptions and any other area where a gap may emerge.
• Provide support and governance for incidents assigned to other Support teams including our onsite support service.
• Adhere to all SOC policies and procedures, perform and produce within target KPI.
• Participate in Problem Management review and resolution.
• Perform and/or coordinate Appliance hardware and software upgrades.
• Create and review technical documentation as needed.

Qualifications
• Two years experience in a technical operation. Ideally this experience would be in a NOC/SOC type setting.
• Three plus years supporting server class hardware and storage solutions. A-Plus certifications desired.
• Experience with UNIX and Windows based operating systems.
• Strong knowledge of network and Internet based services and protocols.
• Experience with ITIL Service Management and Delivery practices
• Ability to interact with vendors, clients and internal teams in a professional, articulate way.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Requires working outside of normal business hours and will be expected to participate in a 24x7 shift model including possible rotation of swing or graveyard shifts.
• Must be able to attain and maintain a “Trusted” role. Requires successfully passing an enhanced background check.
• Technical or Computer Science Degree preferred.
• Requires working outside of normal business hours during evenings and weekends.
• May require travel.

Responsibilities - Technical Support Team Leader
Coordinate the delivery of IT Support Services inline with Local, Regional and Global priorities.
Assign and manage tasks within the European IT Support Services team and global support teams.
Provide leadership and motivation within the Support Services Team.
Perform a coordinator role for the IT Support Services Team, including agreeing objectives, generating training plans, coaching team members, carrying out performance appraisals and coordinating holidays and other types of leave.
Work closely with the various IT Teams including the Infrastructure and Application Development teams
Qualifications
Formal computer science or equivalent qualification
Minimum of 5 -10 years all-round IT Technical Support experience i.e. Linux, RDBMS, some knowledge of programming languages and some exposure to software products and releases etc
