Description: My Dublin City Centre based client currently requires an experienced Snr SQL Server Database Administrator to join their existing team in a permanent role.
Senior SQL Server Production DBA Responsibilities:
• Database monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, high-availability strategies with MS SQL Server 2005/2008/2012 in a production environment
• Administering, maintaining, developing and recommending policies and procedures for ensuring the performance, availability, security and integrity of the company’s databases and systems
• Proactively monitoring production databases and sp execution for optimum performance. Resolve locking conflicts/blocking and resource utilization
• Identifying and resolving database performance issues, database capacity issues and other database issues
• Lead and manage key strategic technical (Database/Business Intelligence) projects.
• Performing regular deployments, scheduled maintenance and house-keeping.
• Anticipating hardware requirements and storage capacity planning for production, test and development environments and implementing replication, archiving and backup and recovery strategies
• Ensuring availability and integrity all database environments

Qualifications & Requirements:
• Motivated leader and self-starter personality; must be able to lead and work independently of supervision but be a willing and contributing participant on cross-organisational projects
• 6+ years of Transact-SQL experience in high volume transaction processing environment.
• Strong process orientation
• Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008/2012.
• Strong experience on performance tuning on MS SQL Server; experience with data integrity, data retention.
• Knowledge of, and working experience with, business intelligent technologies.
• Strong experience on RAID & SAN configuration and management, i/o monitoring etc.
• Strong experience in database performance optimisation
• Must have advanced knowledge of SQL Profiler and server side traces
• Must have solid understanding of Windows 2003/2008 clustering and RDBMS storage optimization
• Must be able to operate in fast paced very high volume transaction processing environment
• Must have comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft SQL Management and SSIS tool
• Must have experience with SQL clustering, SQL replication, hardware replication, and/or disaster recovery implementations
• Certifications in specific technologies preferred
• Strong troubleshooting and problem resolution skills

Description: My Dublin City Centre based client currently requires an experienced Application Support Engineer to join their existing team in a permanent role.

The Technology
The systems are delivered using Microsoft .Net, IIS and Web Services, MSMQ, MS Clustering and MS SQL Server. An expert and in depth working knowledge of the technology in this environment is required.

The Role
The Application Support Specialist(s) will be part of a team that provides a support function for 24x7 business operations. This includes issue management and tracking, software deployment and release management, scripting/automation of system management procedures and monitoring/alerting tools and applications. The role will also encompass release deployments and process and system automation projects.

Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will have 3+ years in Windows Server 2003/2008, IIS6/7 and MS SQL Server. Strong working knowledge of Web Services, Windows Services and Windows Clustering also required.

Core Technical Skills:
• IIS 6 & 7 Configuration & Administration
• Windows 2003/2008 Server
• SQL 2000/2005/2008
• Working knowledge of Web services
• Good understanding of networking fundamentals.
• T-SQL Coding

Preferred Technical Skills:
• MS Message Queue
• Windows Clustering
• Working knowledge of Windows Services
• Windows Server Clustering
• Scripting Skills (VBScript, JScript etc)
• Microsoft MCP/MCSC

Typical responsibilities include:
• Good technical debugging, problem solving and problem management skills required.

Requirements

• Proven Previous experience as a Microsoft SQL DBA with experience in administrating both Standard and Enterprise SQL deployments
• Sound knowledge of software engineering principles and theory
• Strong knowledge of the Windows environment and strong Database troubleshooting experience
• Knowledge of scheduling, monitoring and reporting utilities
• Knowledge of physical and virtual server sets
Desirable
• Windows server admin.

The ideal candidate will have a third level IT qualification. Previous experience in a Database development or Administration environment, data warehouse experience, or Financial Services Systems would be of benefit.

• Database Administration (MS SQL Server)

• Work with other IT and business on project issues
• Deliver on multiple projects concurrently and move between technologies

Technical Knowledge:
• Some experience with MSSQL Server.

• Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems.
• Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
• Experience with backups, restores and recovery models.
• Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server.
• Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts.
• Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics.
• Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory.

7. Experience writing SQL statements and optimising query performance and database security.
8. Must have strong analytical, problem solving, and conceptual skills.
