To interpret and translate business priorities and strategies into IT architecture requirements, planning and decision making consistent with strategy
Set the direction for infrastructure aspects on all current and future projects ensuring alignment with architecture standards.
Work across all infrastructure foundations to comprehend and recommend improvements and enhancements to existing and future implementations
To provide IT solution/architecture design, subject matter expertise, project & technical leadership within the Shared Services (SSC) team and to Divisions
Provide expert technical subject matter expertise across the breadth of technologies and solutions such as desktop, data centre, server, storage, network, database, security and any other infrastructure;
Technical solution architecture and design;
QA work of third parties.
Delivery of IT projects within the SSC, and support business programmes as appropriate;
Area of Responsibility: Infrastructure Architecture:
Development of architectural strategy, including technology standardization and modernization. Align architecture strategy with business needs. Ensure infrastructure project portfolio factored into 3 year plans
Ensure the exploitation of IT across the enterprise is effective and efficient
Define infrastructure architecture principles, standards, and templates
Define infrastructure solutions and designs: overview and vision, conceptual, component and physical architectural models.
Strategically analyse the risks, benefits, and opportunities associated with a solution. Review designs for standards and compliance
Area of Responsibility: Project Delivery
Establish the project plan, deliverables and resources requirements, in the context of the project governance structure and project milestones.
Ensure alignment with PMO standards during the full project lifecycle
Manage the plan, budget and resources.
Area of Responsibility: Support Service Delivery
Support the integration and transition of new solutions/services into live operations
Provide subject matter expertise in support of ITIL processes when necessary (e.g. Incident, Problem and Change management)
Provide subject matter expertise in support of IT Security and controls
Third Level IT or Engineering Qualification
Experienced in Service Management and ITIL processes
Expansive Experience of systems management in a 24 x 7 highly available environment, including ITIL best practices;
Project lead experience;
Technical leadership role in delivering IT systems and solutions across a wide variety of infrastructure areas such as Desktop, Data Centre, Networks, Servers, Storage, Databases, IT Security;
Familiarity with architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF), standards and principles
Experience of working in an IT Infrastructure shared Services Environment
Database and Systems Concepts and Internetworking
High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions;
UNIX, Wintel SAN storage Architecture and Administration

4-5 years related experience
Experience with leading networking routers and switches (Cisco, Juniper) and network analyzers
Working knowledge of Layer 2 / Layer 3 Quality of Service mechanisms, including classification, queuing, and prioritization a plus
Cisco CCIE, CCNA, or CCNP a plus
VoIP experience in a Nortel or Asterisk environment a plus
Ability to document all aspects of network and services provided to users

Design, configuration, support and maintenance of European Network infrastructure
Setup, configuration, and maintenance of various aspects of the network environment, including but not limited to hardware and software management, security patches and health check monitoring
Installation and configuration of routers/switches/firewalls and the maintenance and upgrading of same
Responsibility for the research, product comparison and recommendation of new hardware and software in line with the technology plans.
Working as part of the Systems Support team to ensure that products work correctly when installed and help with any installation problems they may have
Also supporting London Office so some travel will be required
Interaction with Network support teams globally in other offices
A relevant Cisco qualification would be a distinct advantage (CCNP level)
Strong Cisco experience
Cisco Call Manager/VOIP an advantage
Security/VPN/Firewall experience an advantage
3rd level qualification in IT.
Relevant practical work experience
High level of software and hardware knowledge Routers ,Switches, Hubs
Installation , rollout and maintenance skills required
Good understanding & knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, Multicast)
Proven ability to manage small network projects
