Technical Operations Team Lead:

An fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Technical Operations Team Leader to join our client, one of Ireland's leading Software IT companies based in the City Centre.

The successful candidate will lead the IT operations team in performing the day to day IT duties for the organisation. These duties will range from data analysis, system admin or testing.

Key responsibilities:
• Manage team responsible for providing technical support and campaign set up for in country teams.
• Take direct responsibility for application and campaign deployment.
• Work directly with in country teams to resolve campaign issue escalations and manage communications for service outages.
• Ensure that internal and external SLA’s and contractual obligations are met.
• Manage highly critical situations for the most sensitive campaigns.
• Reinforce team structure and grow team’s skill sets.

Key attributes/skills:
• 6 years + experience in operations environment and interacting with multi skilled teams.
• Strong telecoms and IT knowledge capable of understanding complex technical environments.
• Strong database skills. Good knowledge of Oracle would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of UNIX or LINUX
• Proven leadership ability.
• Demonstrated success in monitoring and coordinating a multi skilled team in performance and productivity.
• Must be able to work on your own initiative.
• Should be outgoing with excellent communication skills.
• Professional and personal credibility with a good understanding of the telecoms industry.
• An ability to get on well with others. A positive, proactive "can do" attitude.
• Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.

Duties:
Administration of Oracle Databases
Install, Update, Configure, Migrate and Manage databases and DB software
Create, Maintain and Implement Backup and Restore plans
Work with application teams for code releases, performance support and uptime on the DB’s
Create, Maintain and Implement Replication strategies, HA and Disaster Recovery processes
Perform capacity planning for database environments
Install, Configure, Support and Manage Reporting Services, ETL and Data Transformation Services
Monitor and tune the system to achieve optimum performance levels
Liaison support for third party applications and security
Requirements
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, business administration or commerce –OR-
A combination of equivalent professional training and certifications, combined with a minimum of four years related work experience in a position(s) with increasing responsibility and supervisory duties may be accepted
At least 4 years of Oracle Database Administration experience
At least 2 years of experience in HA / DR strategies and implementation, including RAC
Experience with Windows, UNIX and scripting
Proficient in Backups/Recovery, Performance Tuning, clustering, log shipping and mirroring
English (fluent), other languages as required. Strong written and verbal skills in English
Experience working in an enterprise environment of multiple DB platforms and applications

My client is expanding their Advisory practice and specifically building their Performance Improvement (PI) team. Due to this expansion we are seeking to recruit high achieving individuals to be part of their growing business.
Currently we are recruiting business consultants primarily from Senior Consultant through to Senior Manager levels for the IT Advisory team.

We are seeking individuals with significant experience or individuals who have gained project and technology delivery experience within large recognised organisations. We are looking for Senior Consultants with a proven track record in delivery of complex IT related projects and programmes.

Job Specification
At Senior Consultant level, there will be opportunities to work across our focus sectors within the PI practice (Health, Utilities, Transport, Government) so experience in these sectors would also be an advantage. Strong experience with a blue chip consulting firm or blue-chip industry/government organisation.
Demonstrating experience in one or more of the following competencies is essential:
• Application Development (SDLC)
• ERP implementation (Oracle, MS Dynamics) ;
• Delivery of large scale business/technology programmes;
• IT Strategy & Architecture
• Technology sourcing;
• PMO and IT governance;
• IT Sourcing and/or;
• IT Process effectiveness and value
• Enterprise Intelligence/Analytics
• Business analysis in an IT environment.

As a Senior Consultant:
• You should have solid business consulting skills and be able to work consultatively on a strategic or operational level;
• In addition you must have a proven track record of outstanding performance and display a high level of people and business skills;
• You will be at ease with a consultative approach and looking to reach your full potential;
• You will help to build valued relationships with external clients and internal peers;
• You will participate in presentations and proposals for medium complex projects or elements of highly complex projects;

You will also have additional responsibilities as part of our people agenda:

• You will contribute to people initiatives including recruiting, retaining and training IT Advisory professionals;

The Senior Consultant specific role will vary depending on the project and the sector. In line with the above specification, typical activities would include the following:
• To support delivery of the IT element of large business transformation programmes;
• To support delivery of IT Transformation Programme e.g. IT Sourcing, Strategy etc;
• Solve business and technology issues through collaboration and teaming;
• Use business analysis techniques to support problem solving;
• Understand all our service offerings and actively identify opportunities to better serve clients; and build strong internal relationships with in Advisory and across other services.

Education
Strong academic record including a third level degree in a business or IT related area

Key Responsibilities
• Responsible for the design, development, enhancement, triage, and debugging of J2E & Java applications.
• Ensure that all key technical requirements are identified, estimated, designed, documented, implemented and integration tested.
• Produce detailed technical specifications based on business requirements documents.
• Build high quality designs & solutions using your expertise in Java and JEE and in accordance with AWC development standards.
• Ensure that consistent design patterns, methodologies and design documentation are maintained across all of your development projects.
• Perform (and support) technical & design reviews of your own and other AWC IT projects.
• Unit test all your code prior to release to ensure quality solutions are delivered. Provide additional support on delivered code when necessary.
• Work closely with the Business Analysts, Testing and Support teams to ensure all technical requirements for new projects are captured, designed and developed according to those requirements.
• Ensure urgent customer issues are resolved through triaging, troubleshooting and quickly applying solutions to any identified problems.
• Work on collaborative cross technology and cross division projects where Java applications interact with a range of business logic interfaces & systems.

Experience Required
• At least 6-8 years of experience developing core Java and Web based (B2B and/or B2C) applications.
• Experience of developing J2E applications which integrate to a relational database backend (Oracle).
• Working knowledge of relational databases and a good understanding of object relationship frameworks like Hibernate.
• Experience of delivering projects using XML and Web Service (REST) design.
• Experience of developing applications using Spring. (Portlets - highly desirable).
• Experience in Test Driven Development (TDD) along with configuration and continuous integration tools like SVN, GIT, Maven and Hudson.
• Technical development experience with Business Process Modeling (BPM) tools or document generation & management systems highly desirable.
• Mobile App development experience an advantage.
• Degree or equivalent in software development.
• Fluent English language skills.
