This is key role within the company driving operational effectiveness and standardisation for scale as a core skill set requirement. We are seeking

Candidates with 5+ years Oracle database administration experience
Ability to be self-organised with experience working in small interdisciplinary technology teams
Strong analytical skills
Must have excellent communication skills
Appropriate technical qualification and/or certification
24/7 support of production database services to ensure the highest standards of availability, resilience, integrity, security and performance required by our applications.
Design, development and administration of Oracle databases.
Performance monitoring, reporting, and tuning of Oracle databases
Management and maintenance of backups & recovery procedures.
Installation and maintenance of database server, replication and client environments.
Reviewing and tuning SQL and PL/SQL code.
Designing database packages and procedures.
Security and access control.
Provision of support and assistance to development team in the design, development,
testing, tuning and implementation of database applications
Creation and maintenance of SQL queries and routines
Provisioning of (database) development and testing environments.

Competencies:

Experience/Qualifications
Third-level qualification in Computer Science
5+ years IT experience. Experience in large scale system implementation an advantage.
Writing ad-hoc queries based on schema knowledge for various reporting requirements. Writing / Tuning data ingestion procedures from external suppliers and partners using PL/SQL, sql loader, 3rd party tools eg. Toad etc.
Required to deal with complex data models and object relational database mapping, while producing complex reports
This job requires excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. Due to the dynamic nature of the business, self-motivation and the ability to learn quickly are essential.

Essential Skills & Experience

Strong knowledge in Oracle database 10g and 11g with production support experience in a multi-project environment
Strong knowledge in Oracle RAC 10g and 11g
Strong knowledge in Oracle Recovery Manager (RMan), Datapump, Export and Import tools
Strong knowledge in Oracle performance , server configuration and tracing facilities
Good working knowledge of job scheduling and monitoring tools
Good knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL including tuning
Good knowledge of Oracle replication tools
Familiarity with Oracle Internal tools
Experience with Tomcat and JBoss applications servers.
Experience with Unix/Linux in a multi-domain environment including basic commands and shell scripting.
Some knowledge of Java, HTML and XML
Some knowledge of open source web development
Good documenting skills (Office suit)
Experience of working with multiple projects/tasks and the ability to prioritise on the fly.
Experience of supporting multiple teams within a business.
Excellent communicator
Self-motivated
Ability to learn quickly
Ability to problem solve high pressure issues
Enjoys a challenging yet rewarding environment
Candidates will have to undergo a technical interview and an HR interview if technical proves successful.

My Dublin based client is currently recruiting for an Oracle Development DBA to join their existing team. This is a permanent role with an excellent client.

Key Duties / Responsibilities:

- Provide Oracle technical architecture expertise within projects
- Establishing an in depth knowledge of all layers of the application architecture
- Liaise and assist with production support and capacity planning
- Database and application performance optimisation and troubleshooting
- Database HA/DR practises and processes
- Database modelling and design for my client application databases
- Implementation of security, data retention and archiving policy
- Coaching and mentoring developers in SQL and PL/SQL development
- 5+ years in a similar application DBA role with large-scale enterprise applications and databases
- Oracle Certification preferred
- HA/DR implementation using Oracle DataGuard
- Excellent knowledge and experience of Oracle 11g database, OEM 12c, Oracle Enterprise Edition performance tools including Tuning and Diagnostics Packs, Oracle Partitioning, Advanced Security Option
- Experience in perl and shell scripting
- Excellent UNIX knowledge and experience
- Good knowledge and experience of Fusion Middleware, SOA Suite and web services
- Experience in Java and Oracle ADF an advantage
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- A self-starter with an ability to work to deadlines in a fast paced environment.
- Experience of all aspects of software project life cycles from requirements gathering, through design, development and implementation.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.


Academic Qualification: Relevant Third Level qualification (e.g. Degree) in business studies or business information systems or equivalent, is desirable.

This role is with an excellent client within the financial services sector and will suit anyone living near the M50 or anyone who lives near the M50. The role is a 18 month fixed term contract and the salary guide if 45-60k per annum.

Key Duties / Responsibilities:

- Plan, develop and execute data migration processes
- Produce technical documentation from business/functional requirements
- Collaborate with business and technical customers to confirm data requirements
- Assist with development of QA plans and scenarios
- Perform performance tuning
- Assist in defining structured practices especially in build and release management
- Promote best practices and new methodologies

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

- 4-5 years experience on large scale Oracle ETL projects, including planning, developing, testing and reconciliation
- Excellent SQL and PL/SQL
- Good knowledge of Oracle 10g/11g.
- Experience using Oracle Data Integrator an advantage
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Strong analytical skills.

Key Duties / Responsibilities:
Provides support for multiple QA activities. Is self managed to react to and provide support to both IT and business teams.
Support the use of quality assurance programs, including: best practices/methodologies, QA and end-to-end testing or tool selection, automation and use.
Delivers business documents related to quality assurance programs that could include best practices, testing or tool support.
Ensures appropriate test environment exists for testing work.
As part of the quality assurance team, promotes automated tool use where appropriate.
Initiates quality assurance approaches, including new and improved testing processes.
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies:
Non-Technical
Excellent oral and written communications; an ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding
Ability to conceptualize and contribute to delivery of multiple IT projects as part of the quality assurance team.
Technical
IT Degree, technical training or equivalent work experience
3-5 years QA Test experience and a background in Data migration projects

Description: My Dublin City Centre based client (IFSC) is currently recruiting for a Global Database Manager. This is a permanent role for a leading Financial organisation and they are looking for someone within 4-8 weeks. The package will be a 6 figure package which includes (Bonus, Pension, Health and all the trimings). Travel will be part of the role but it will be 20% per annum and mainly to US East Coast.
The Global Database Manager is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of Investments databases across all of our locations. Primary focus will be databases/devices dedicated to delivering global services arising from the implementation of a new Asset management system and the global expansion of Enterprise Data Management EDM suite. Secondary focus will be to ensure all local/regional databases managed within all locations are managed according to best practice. The Global Database Manager will report to the Global Head of IT.
Roles and Responsibilities
" Ensuring the availability to the databases and devices supporting the EDM environment
" Ensuring best practice management of Production, DR, UAT and Development environments
" Performance Management and Tuning
" Management of Key vendors (Oracle, Teradata)
" Development of Global Database strategy aligned to our future application roadmap
" Manage and deliver strategy in alignment with Global IT
" Management of Global DBAs across all locations
" Work across all IT and Data Management functions in order to ensure effective delivery of "fit for purpose" data
Qualifications
" Experience managing teams
" Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non- technical audiences
" 8+ years' experience with complex database systems, data integration, and analysis
" Experience with both OLTP and Data Warehouse environment
" Strong knowledge of ETL, Business Intelligence and Campaign Management tools and applications. (DataStage/Informatica, Business Object/Cognos/Microstrategy, Unica/SAS etc.)
" .NET Integration experience is desired
" Experience with device systems such as Teradata, Exedata
" Experience with multiple RDBMS (Oracle, Netezza, SQL Server, etc)
" Ability to multi task and project manage in high productivity environment
" Research and propose cost effective technical solutions to address business challenges such as improvement of development, processes and governance standards
" Perform resource management, forecasting, leadership, and teambuilding
" Manage career paths by coaching and mentoring direct and indirect reports
" Skilled at working and communicating cross-functionally with both technical and non-technical groups
" Must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in a written format. Must possess skills in expressing ideas and providing information to others and eliciting same
" Takes lead on all augmentation / clean- up of existing data sources and ensures constituent data is fresh, current and as enhanced as possible to ensure the most effective use of all the information available
