Description: Permanent - Senior Java Developer
Salary: €60-70k per annum plus benefits
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
7 or more years experience of multiple programming languages, systems, systems design and software development methodologies.
Minimum 5 years Java EE experience including: Spring Framework, Hibernate, POJO's.
Excellent SQL skills and preferably PL/SQL experience.
Web development skills including JSP, JQuery, CSS and Ajax.
Experience with the following: IIS, WebSphere, WebLogic, Tomcat, Quartz, Mule, SOAP, Axis/CXF and TCP.
Project build/test automation experience: JUnit, Maven, Ant, Hudson, Cruise Control and Automated Testing
Experience in projects though which multiple systems are integrated, including design and implementation of high-level and detailed project plans
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Ability to work on multiple projects at a time, and as a member of each project team. You may act as a project team lead and/or mentor.
You will be required to work on complex projects that require both depth and breadth of knowledge in a number of technologies and the business
Participate on, and provide leadership (technical or project) to project team, clarifying the business requirements, performing systems analysis, development and modification activities, as well as related maintenance & support.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to participating in, or leading planning sessions with the business users to analyze business requirements, and provide design recommendations.
Responsible for writing technical specifications. Provides design recommendations, developing applications and custom integration solutions, including major enhancements & interfaces.
Translates the business and technical requirements into business application systems. Recommends and monitors guidelines.
Develop & modify complex software systems using disciplined software development processes.
Tests and leads implementation of application modules, reinforcing the use of QA principles and processes, from multiple systems they have developed or modified. The development & execution of test plans, test scenarios, test scripts and / or workflow usage.
Provide direction in evaluating system integration design to ensure that the proposed solution has considered extensibility, scalability, performance, cost-effectiveness, usability, re-use, management is robust and proven industry principles have been considered when developing the application.
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
IT Degree, technical training or equivalent work experience
Excellent client-facing and customer service skills
Ability to work as a team member and on your own initiative
Self-starter with a proactive approach
Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral & written) skills. An ability to present & discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding.
Proven problem solving ability
Must be methodical, high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Have the ability to mentor and coach other members of the IT team
Participate in cross functional IT support
Document systems, applications and new procedures to Industry standards

1. Purpose
• To support technical solutions in accordance with defined architectures, policies and standards that satisfy business, regulatory and ITI technical drivers
• To document policies and standards that underpin defined architectures
• To troubleshoot technical problems and remedy through direct action or action plans
• To provide resource to project initiatives involving Applications and Database Systems

2. Responsibilities
• The efficient operation and support of the technical environment including servers, Applications and Databases.
• The resolution of critical failures and incidents.
• Provide support for projects managed externally from the team (infrastructure or business driven) through provision of technical resource, and regular liaison with the project managers.
• In liaison with the project manager, resolving resource conflicts and prioritisation against other activities.
• Work with IT Management to drive a cost effective service.
• Implement new technical process and procedures as agreed by the Dept Head
• Ensure Configuration details of supported IT Infrastructure components are maintained and documented.
• Working with RIIT ensuring that engineered services are implemented to agreed standards and quality levels.
• Responsible for maintaining, planning and implementing refresh of local ITI technology components in line with regional standards.
• Represent the bank at a number of regional ITI working groups.
• To take on other responsibilities for which the job holder is suitably capable to perform, training and development will be provided as required.
• Ensure all release/change packaging and documentation meets agreed quality standards

3. Qualifications
• Educated to degree standard in an IT or business related discipline or equivalent
• Industry recognised qualifications (e.g. Oracle, Microsoft,ITIL)
4. Technical
• 3-5yrs experience in a similar role.
• Oracle 10g and 11g database on Windows experience required
• Oracle on Unix operating system experience required
• Oracle Application Server – Weblogic experience desirable
• SQL Server 2005/2008 experience desirable
• Have good SQL, UNIX and windows scripting skill
• Oracle OCP certification an advantage
• Daily administration and support of the Test and Development databases with particular emphasis on Oracle
• Perform regular database backup and recovery operations
• Provide key technical input to optimisation of Oracle database configuration and administration processes
• Support end users of all database systems, development and production, in respect of user access, privileges and security
• Exposure to the following technologies and tools an advantage
• Oracle Enterprise Manager, IIS, Putty, Toad, Mqueue, Scheduling tools e.g. Autosys, crontab
• Technical Engineering Skills

- IT related degree or equivalent experience
- 1+ years experience developing Adobe LiveCycle ES applications using LiveCycle Workbench

- Interact directly with customers to clarify requirements manage project delivery and obtain feedback on deliverables.
- Quick grasp of customer requirements and the ability to translate them into technical designs

Desirable skills:

- Knowledge of PL-SQL or UNIX scripting
