Description: Powerbuilder Programmer - permanent & contractor
Tasks/Responsibilities:
This Position is responsible for expensive equipment and for efficient use of manpower resources. Scope of projects can impact upon the whole organisation and effective solutions are required with minimum delay. High quality standards must be complied with and implemented across all business areas.

Key Responsibilities include:
Developing systems to match the business needs. Systems are developed to a specified standard and ensure rigorous testing and acceptance.
Designing systems using the requirements defined with the USER, to produce processes which are designed / integrated to provide a working system.
Enhancing existing systems to facilitate new processes, e.g. introduction of new products.

Key Tasks include:
Development of new and existing systems
Business analysis / requirements gathering; liase effectively with customers to determine business needs.
Assist in the development of project specifications and be involved from design through to implementation.
Work under own initiative and within project deadlines.
Produce realistic estimates for own tasks and achieve these estimates.
Liase with systems and end user personnel.
Transfer knowledge and be a technical mentor to others.
All tasks must be completed in accordance with client and internal quality standards

Technical Skills:
A high level of analytical ability is required for identifying user problems and a high level of creativity is required to present effective solutions. The Ability to communicate in layman’s terms with non-technical users is an advantage.

Essential Skills: Powerbuilder V9-10,Oracle ,
PL/SQL, Unix, Client/Server architecture
Experience incorporating all stages of the system lifecycle
Desirable Skills:Linux, Java, XML, HTML
