The Senior Build & Release Engineer will be responsible all stages of the software release cycle. This will include configuration of a new SCM system and the migration of an existing codebase to the SCM Tool.
Skill Set:

• Knowledge of MS Build, Maven, Ant
• Java Application Server experience (Websphere, Jboss, etc)

Experience of software development life cycle; specifically, development, testing and deployment as well as the documentation associated with each step. Strong analytical skills for effective problem solving.
The candidate should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to grasp issues quickly and make educated, critical judgment. The candidate must work well within a process driven environment specifically with attention to detail and actively promote adherence to process. The candidate will need to be a good team player, but will also be able to work autonomously with a minimum of supervision. Being able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines is a must.
Technical Skills sets
• Has a minimum of four years experience in a large multi-tiered development environment
• Must have experience with Microsoft technologies including IIS, MS SQL Server, MSMQ, Cluster Admin, window services
• Day to Day working \ administration experience with Version Control System tools: VSS, Perforce, Subversion etc.

Description: A new role has opened up for a Release/ SCM Manager. The required person needs to have a hands-on Release background as well.
People who also have experience in one or more of Weblogic(admin skills), Maven, Ant, Hudson Build Server, Apache Tomcat, Unix, SQL, Java, MircroFocus COBOL, CVS.
Release manager role would be as follows:
• Manages demanding release schedule and including business liaison to validate business priorities with key stakeholders
• Accountable for the delivery of releases in alignment with the overall release strategy and vision.
• Acts as a single point of contact for delivery of releases, collaborating with delivery team leads to ensure sufficient level of quality in each release
• Provide management oversight of the release process, including delegation of responsibilities to all personnel required to ensure successful delivery of the release within the scope of the co-source.
• Allocates / balances available resource supply against forecast demand.
• Develops and communicates detailed release plans and sets delivery expectations with key stakeholders. Updates and communicates release status. Escalates issues in a timely manner where required.
• Interacts extensively with the functional team leads in the estimation cycle, identification of inter-team dependencies, delivery plan validation, impact assessments, issue tracking / resolution, and status reporting.
• Ensures user acceptance tests completed, all defects addressed, and all service requests contained in the release were signed off by the requestors.
• Ensures all required regression testing activities were completed successfully.
• Verifies if the required training was provided to the affected user community.
• Makes sure a comprehensive back-out plan exists and was validated.
• Makes sure the release is deployed according to the release plan.
• Monitors the production environment post-release for any unexpected situations, and make sure remedial action is taken as quickly as possible.
• Facilitates post-release evaluation meetings to discuss issues and identify improvement opportunities after major releases.
• Acts as a conduit to the change management team to communicate the release plan and assess change activity impacts to the release plan.
• Coordinates cross team integration activities.
• Proactively identifies and manages situations or concerns that adversely affect service delivery. Escalates issues as required.
• Experienced in automated build scripting technologies such as ant and maven to define an automate release process
• Experience of continuous integration and automated testing
• Manage and prioritise day to day activities of release team
