Description: IT Quality Assurance Engineer

Quality Assurance Role:
The IT Quality Assurance Engineer is an integral member of the Quality Assurance Team. This role requires a candidate who has the adaptability, intelligence, and QA-specific skills that will enable them to come up to speed on projects quickly. Relevant experience includes test plan creation, Business Requirement/Technical Specification analysis, test case creation and execution, testing procedures, defect logging, problem solving with follow-through and communication.

Key Duties / Responsibilities:
• To enhance the Test Team, implementing best practice testing solutions using proven structural test methodologies.
• To analyse and provide commentary on Business Requirement/Technical Specification documentation.
• To create and execute test plans & cases.
• To work closely with the UAT & assist in the UAT test phase of projects.
• Entering of product defects into a defect tracking database - clearly articulate and fully define each defect so that little follow-up is required with development.
• Follow established departmental standards for documenting defects in the defect tracking database.
• Ability to communicate with QA Lead, Development, Solutions, Project Management and UAT teams.
• Actively perform testing duties, as required to achieve project milestones.
• Contribute to analysis and improvement of software development life-cycle processes.
• Capability of Level of Effort estimation and delivery schedule for personal and team member deliverables in conjunction with IT Project Mgmt.
• Ensuring that all existing application functionality is taken into consideration during the test cycle.
• Support software deployments through warranty periods to project closure.
• Support & Assist project team – DEV, SIT, UAT
• Act as point of contact for Operations for any WMS issues that arise post software deployment

Minimum skills required:
• Relevant QA experience.
• Knowledge of SQL Server & Databases.
• Experience with regression, integration and system level test scripts.
• Analytical & methodical, with highly developed attention for detail and willingness to learn with a strong sense of responsibility.
• Proven experience in support and delivery of IT projects within the logistics and supply chain sector.
• Demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills both written and oral.
• Self-starter, proactive with demonstrated problem solving skills.
• Strong understanding of a product life cycle and deliverables.
• Strong understanding of defect tracking and management.
• 3rd Level qualification in an IT related discipline.

Description: My Dublin based utilities client currently requires an experienced Software Tester to form a new test team within my clients IT Department.

The successful candidate will have considerable test experience and will be responsible for the test phase of projects, with specific responsibility for test planning, preparation, executing, and reporting of both bespoke and off the shelf applications.

Work Activities:

• Participate in workshops with project team and review documentation to understand user requirements, assist in requirement gathering, functional and technical design.
• Document test scope and test approach and achieve sign off with project team
• Produce test plan, use cases and test cases
• Identify test data required and manage the set-up of the same.
• Execute testing
• Raise issues found in issue system, providing appropriate information to enable programmers replicate, understand and resolve issue. Re-Test issue to confirm issue is resolved. Manage prioritisation of issues and be active driver for progressing issue resolution
• Liaise with subject matter expert users and to resolve production issues.
• Monitor progress of tests and provide regular updates to project team and management
• Participate in special projects for the university as needed

Essential Skills/Experience:

• At least three - six years’ experience in software testing
• Working knowledge of project life cycles, both waterfall model and agile
• Good analytical skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good organizational skills
• Attention to detail
• Self-motivated
• Excellent problem solving & multitasking skills
• Proven ability to work effectively with internal users and vendor.
• Degree Qualification
• Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Microsoft TFS

Desirable Skills/Experience

• Software Testing and Qualification would be an advantageous e.g. ISTQB
• Experience with Infrastructure testing

- In depth software quality assurance experience including proven management, supervisory or leadership experience
- Experience with TFS

- Experience of reporting to senior management

Salary is negotiable – but the client can pay circa 50-60k plus bonus and benefits for the right candidate – salary will reflect experience

Standard Quality Assurance functions covering the full software development life-cycle include:

• Executing both manual and automated test plans for existing application.
• Software testing to include functional scenarios, regression testing, negative testing, error validation, defect retesting, usability and performance testing.
• Creating comprehensive test plans with well-defined, reusable test scripts for new software releases.
• Ensuring compliance with auditing and industry standards.
• Supporting Client Testing as required.
• Balancing the need to meet exacting standards for new developments and enhancements with the need to provide an efficient cost effective service.

The Person
The ideal candidate will have extensive previous experience working in a Testing role in a full time capacity. Experience in testing quality standards, policies and procedure’s is desirable.

They will also have:
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and technical writing skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, cross departmental and, on occasion, with external clients.
• Ability to interrogate business processes, analyze Specifications and process models to create detailed and complex test conditions and scenarios.
• Experience with the following systems is also desirable: Mainframe, MVS Operating System, TSO, SDSF, FileAid and ENDEVOR

The Job:

The role of Release Control Analyst requires the jobholder to design, implement and supervise the release management processes and procedures, ensuring the delivery of software that adheres to best practice methodologies.

The jobholder will be responsible for co-ordinating the development and release activity of the Software Development and QA teams.

The role combines problem solving and business solution delivery and requires a wealth of experience across a range of disciplines including business analysis and quality driven software development.

Reporting to Manager, Financial Software Development, the successful candidate will:

• Be responsible for the software shipping on time and at the agreed high quality bar.
• Ensure all ISAE 3402 audit controls are strictly adhered to by both the development and test teams.
• Complete the release documentation on behalf of the development team as part of the handover to the Business Analysis team for QA.
• Drive the Development and Testing teams throughout the release process.

Ensures Regulatory compliance by completing the appropriate filing and documentation as required by internal and external audit teams. You will support efforts to ensure that the company meets all corporate, ISAE 3402 (SAS70), ICOFR, and client audit requirements.

Undertake a project management role on any role related project structure using Group standard tools, in accordance with agreed deadlines, ensuring relevant stakeholders are updated via an appropriate communication strategy.

In conjunction with the Financial Software Development manager, be responsible for the supervision of external consultants where required on specific project deliverables.

Support business test team members and other colleagues as required, providing high quality information to others, upon which they can base decisions.

The Person:

This job requires a high calibre individual with proven, extensive, experience within the financial services sector, in particular the life back office administration environment. They will also ideally have:
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
• An ability to work in an uncertain and flexible environment, demonstrating enthusiasm and a ‘can do’ attitude.
• An ability to agree and deliver on deadlines in a fast paced business environment.
• An ability to ensure their experience is applied to new issues in a team environment to ensure the most sustainable solution is progressed in a timely manner.
• Extensive experience in the analysis and implementation of life and pensions products on policy and fund administration systems.
• Proven experience in software release management across web and desktop platforms.
• Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail.
• Experience using relational databases such as SQL Server is highly desirable.
