General Scope / main Purpose of the Job:
The Quality Assurance Analyst is responsible for supporting quality standards in the development of systems solutions. In partnership with Application Development staff, Quality Assurance professionals will participate in the planning, creation and execution of testing activities (including acceptance and regression).
Quality Assurance analysts have an understanding of applicable programming languages, testing tools and systems life cycle testing. Excellent oral and written communications are an essential element of the role, with an ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding.
Key Duties / Responsibilities:
o Provides support for multiple QA activities. Is self managed to react to and provide support to both IT and business teams.
o Support the use of company quality assurance programs, including: best practices/methodologies, QA and end-to-end testing or tool selection, automation and use.
o Delivers business documents related to quality assurance programs that could include best practices, testing or tool support.
o Ensures appropriate test environment exists for testing work.
o As part of the quality assurance team, promotes automated tool use where appropriate.
o Initiates quality assurance approaches, including new and improved testing processes.
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies:
o Excellent oral and written communications; an ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding
o Ability to conceptualize and contribute to delivery of multiple IT projects as part of the quality assurance team.
o IT Degree, technical training or equivalent work experience
o Broad knowledge of data processing with knowledge of related systems applications and/or technologies

This individual will work in a new project to implement a Data Warehouse environment to meet the companies reporting and BI requirements alongside a number of operational deliverables. In addition they will be instrumental in the implementation of automated testing scripts to assist in the efficient management of regression testing
As our QA Engineer, you will:
* Provide Data Warehouse Based Testing
* Build, maintain, and extend regression and automation test suites & strategy.
* Be Responsible for the developing planning, execution, scheduling, and reporting of test suites
* Participate as a team member in testing, analysis, process management to identify and communicate risks.
* Respond to dynamic situations while maintaining adherence to best principals
* Build alliances with business owners, product owners, developers, and operations
* Recommend solutions to technical issues and participate in architecting solutions
* Create black and white box automated tests as appropriate
* Drive continuous improvement in test coverage and test effectiveness
* Serve as a resource in the full development cycle, end-to-end, from conception, design, implementation and testing to documentation, delivery and maintenance
* Accomplish aggressive goals and meet strict deadlines
Your qualifications should include:
* 2 years in software QA, development, or configuration management
* 2 years as part of a highly collaborative team of software and quality assurance engineers, product owners and the business owners
* 3 years of IT/IS experience
* Demonstratable knowledge of and hands-on experience with SQL and or SSIS would be desirable
* Strong experience with testing/debugging Data Warehouse and BI
* Strong understanding and experience with RDBMS systems such as Teradata, Oracle or Sybase

Applications under test are typically based on Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle data warehouse technologies, .NET web application interfaces and integrate with other systems such as Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Exchange and GIS Systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
Create and execute user acceptance test plans, test cases, quality assurance policies, documents and procedures.
Work closely with business analysts at the requirements and analysis phase to facilitate preparation of user acceptance test cases before development commences.
Design and execution of user acceptance tests, functional tests and system integration tests to agreed delivery dates.
Generate test data for test cases.
Assist in verifying that the product is usable and acceptable; functions as intended from the end users point of view.
Provide user acceptance testing support and assist business users to create and execute test scripts.
Provide live trial training support to business users on the correct use of the applications.
Coordinate the preparation and setup of testing environments.
Investigate, document, and log possible software defects during the test execution phases system test, user acceptance test, integration test and re-test resolved defects when corrected by the Development Team.
Successful candidates may also have
A background in financial and asset portfolio management systems is highly desirable.
Experience of data migration testing and testing for data on-boarding would be an advantage.
Industry recognised software testing certification would be an advantage, e.g. ISTQB.
Background/understanding of software development life cycle.
Use of industry standard software testing and defect tracking tools would be an advantage, e.g. Mercury Test Director, Bugzilla, JIRA, Aimstep, DN Tracker.
Exposure to Industry Standards for IT & software processes, e.g. ITIL, COBIT.
Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint in the context of document management is highly desirable.
A good understanding of some scripting or programming languages. It is not required to be an experienced developer but it would be a distinct advantage to a good understanding of structured programming methods and the ability to understand and write SQL and .NET ASP.

Reporting to Manager, Financial Software Development, the successful candidate will:
Be responsible for the software shipping on time and at the agreed high quality bar.
Ensure all ISAE 3402 audit controls are strictly adhered to by both the development and test teams.
Complete the release documentation on behalf of the development team as part of the handover to the Business Analysis team for QA.
Drive the Development and Testing teams throughout the release process.
Ensures Regulatory compliance by completing the appropriate filing and documentation as required by internal and external audit teams. You will support efforts to ensure that the company meets all corporate, ISAE 3402 (SAS70), ICOFR, and client audit requirements.
Undertake a project management role on any role related project structure using Group standard tools, in accordance with agreed deadlines, ensuring relevant stakeholders are updated via an appropriate communication strategy.
In conjunction with the Financial Software Development manager, be responsible for the supervision of external consultants where required on specific project deliverables.
Support business test team members and other colleagues as required, providing high quality information to others, upon which they can base decisions.
This job requires a high calibre individual with proven, extensive, experience within the financial services sector, in particular the life back office administration environment. They will also ideally have:
