Description: QA Manager required for Top Financial Services Company based in Dublin City Centre.

The Role
The purpose of this job is to lead, develop and motivate the Quality Assurance section. The QA team is responsible for ensuring that the functionality implemented according to the unique requirements of the client is satisfactory.

Reporting to the IT Director the key accountabilities of the role are:
• Lead a team of professional QA Testers in their delivery of Tested and Quality Assured functionality
• Operate a robust Systems Development Life Cycle process within the QA Team.
• Provide governance and direction regarding the scheduling & prioritisation of the workload of the QA team
• Provide leadership and direction for QA Team Leaders, Junior and Senior QA Analysts
• Establish clear objectives and agree detailed action plans for their achievement.
• Manage personal development by mentoring and coaching.
• Identify effective and appropriate QA solutions and actions to address areas of conflict.
• Identify key lessons learnt from Testing projects and implement necessary improvements.
• Attend workshops with prospective clients
• Engage in the Estimation process for both External and Internal pricing for New and Existing Clients.
• Work with the Change department on the transfer of QA resources to support projects

The Person:
The successful candidate must be able to deal with the pressures of constantly changing priorities and tasks. They must be able to motivate their staff to understand and accept the almost constant need to achieve moving targets.

The successful candidate will ideally have:
• ISTQB Foundation Course in Software Testing, or higher ISTQB qualification.
• Systems and professional Quality Assurance skills and experience
• Proven ability to manage a team of multi-disciplined QA Testers across different System platforms with various integrated systems.
• Proven ability to identify and implement operational controls required in a multi-disciplined Production Support team
• Proven ability to manage large projects and budgets which operate under constant pressure to meet very tight deadlines across a number of clients and platforms.
• Significant experience leading, developing and running a large QA department across multiple Clients and platforms.

Responsibilities

 Production of test specifications in accordance with a structured testing total life cycle methodology.
 Accurate recording of test activities and tracking of defects.
 Analysis of actual results arising from test execution.

 Assist in problem management, error assessment & prioritisation.

 Enhance the effectiveness of the testing total lifecycle process through identification of process improvements.

 Use risk analysis techniques to develop, maintain, and execute automated test suites.

 Develop and execute automated test suites using selected / custom tools.

 Develop and drive the design of automation test cases based on manual tests, software requirements and functional understanding of application under test.
Work with the test team to capture and reuse automated test suites



EXPERIENCE




 Experience with QTP / UFT

 Experience must include reviewing test requirements and scripts, executing test scripts, defect tracking/closing, and test planning using guidelines and structured methodologies (essential).

 Experience of using initiative and being proactive (essential).

 Experience of using defect tracking systems (desirable).

 Experience of writing complex sql query (essential).


 Experience of using test automation tool (commercial or freeware) for test execution (stability, regression) for Client-based and Web Application in a Windows environment (desirable).


 Experience of writing test script without the use of test recorder (Capture and playback) or other spy tool (desirable).





SKILLS



 Ability to generate ideas to improve team performance.

 Experience using HP UFT (essential)

 Understands testing processes and methodology.
 Knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry (desirable).

Description: An excellent Technology client based in Dublin city centre is looking for a Senior QA Engineer to join the current team and be involved with hands on in functional testing.
The successful candidate will be involved in all of the customer facing UIs and back end systems with the responsibility of leading and progressing the QA function within those assigned projects.

My client are looking for a candidate who must have;
• A proven track record in all facets of testing within a technically challenging development environment
• Must be a self-starter with the ability to learn and understand complex systems quickly
• Will need to be a good team player and have the ability to work autonomously with a minimum of supervision
• Must have experience in industry standard testing, tracing and debugging tools

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Hands on functional testing of core product function against requirements throughout the entire project life cycle
• Delivery of test schedules, test estimates, test cases and test data for assigned projects
• Responsibility for test execution and reporting to QA and Project Managers
• Bug management, incorporating triage meetings, status reporting, bug categorisation/prioritisation and issue escalation
• Assist in reporting, investigating and debugging software issues in coordination with support and development
• Provide support for production environment release validation and production bug troubleshooting
• Integration of product knowledge from testers, developers and product managers into the testing process
• Continuously contribute to improvement of the Company’s quality processes and procedures

Key Requirements:
• Degree qualified with a minimum of 4/5 years’ experience in quality assurance, ideally in a financial / high numeracy sector
• Candidate must have
o Minimum 2 years’ experience in managing complex test projects from initialisation through to release
o Minimum of 4 years’ hands on experience across on online and mobile based testing roll using industry standard traffic debugging and tracing tools.
• Must have experience of software development lifecycles and sound knowledge of QA principles and methodologies
• Demonstrated experience in isolating and reproducing issues at a component level with clear documentation to support findings
• Experience in bug management, including triage meetings, bug categorisation and prioritisation, issue escalation and status reporting
• Prior experience in using issue tracking tools (Mantis, Jira etc)
• Experience of UAT testing in conjunction with third party test and project teams
• Working knowledge of MS SQL Server, XML, XHTML, ASP.NET, JavaScript, IIS with basic SQL scripting a benefit.
• The candidate must have strong numeracy and analytical skills for effective problem solving
• Confidence in holding test documentation reviews with project teams and obtaining sign off
• Ability to understand business system at architectural\component level and liaise with development teams
• Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to grasp issues quickly and make educated, critical judgement
• Being able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines is a key requirement

Quality Assurance Role:
The IT Quality Assurance Engineer is an integral member of the Quality Assurance Team. This role requires a candidate who has the adaptability, intelligence, and QA-specific skills that will enable them to come up to speed on projects quickly. Relevant experience includes test plan creation, Business Requirement/Technical Specification analysis, test case creation and execution, testing procedures, defect logging, problem solving with follow-through and communication.

Key Duties / Responsibilities:
• To enhance the Test Team, implementing best practice testing solutions using proven structural test methodologies.
• To analyse and provide commentary on Business Requirement/Technical Specification documentation.
• To create and execute test plans & cases.
• To work closely with the UAT & assist in the UAT test phase of projects.
• Entering of product defects into a defect tracking database - clearly articulate and fully define each defect so that little follow-up is required with development.
• Follow established departmental standards for documenting defects in the defect tracking database.
• Ability to communicate with QA Lead, Development, Solutions, Project Management and UAT teams.
• Actively perform testing duties, as required to achieve project milestones.
• Contribute to analysis and improvement of software development life-cycle processes.
• Capability of Level of Effort estimation and delivery schedule for personal and team member deliverables in conjunction with IT Project Mgmt.
• Ensuring that all existing application functionality is taken into consideration during the test cycle.
• Support software deployments through warranty periods to project closure.
• Support & Assist project team – DEV, SIT, UAT
• Act as point of contact for Operations for any WMS issues that arise post software deployment

Experience:
Minimum skills required:
• Relevant QA experience.
• Knowledge of SQL Server & Databases.
• Experience with regression, integration and system level test scripts.
• Analytical & methodical, with highly developed attention for detail and willingness to learn with a strong sense of responsibility.
• Proven experience in support and delivery of IT projects within the logistics and supply chain sector.
• Demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills both written and oral.
• Self-starter, proactive with demonstrated problem solving skills.
• Strong understanding of a product life cycle and deliverables.
• Strong understanding of defect tracking and management.
• 3rd Level qualification in an IT related discipline.

The successful candidate will have considerable test experience and will be responsible for the test phase of projects, with specific responsibility for test planning, preparation, executing, and reporting of both bespoke and off the shelf applications.

Work Activities:

• Participate in workshops with project team and review documentation to understand user requirements, assist in requirement gathering, functional and technical design.
• Document test scope and test approach and achieve sign off with project team
• Produce test plan, use cases and test cases
• Identify test data required and manage the set-up of the same.
• Execute testing
• Raise issues found in issue system, providing appropriate information to enable programmers replicate, understand and resolve issue. Re-Test issue to confirm issue is resolved. Manage prioritisation of issues and be active driver for progressing issue resolution
• Liaise with subject matter expert users and to resolve production issues.
• Monitor progress of tests and provide regular updates to project team and management
• Participate in special projects for the university as needed

Desirable Skills/Experience

• Software Testing and Qualification would be an advantageous e.g. ISTQB
• Experience with Infrastructure testing
