Description: Permanent role for a Risk Analyst with a top Financial Services Company based in Dublin

Key Responsibilities:
• As part of their validation activities, ensure active and positive communication exists with the relevant stakeholders involved in the model validation process.
• Data management using SAS and Excel. This includes reading Excel files into SAS, data manipulation, deriving new variables and creating SAS datasets.
• Undertake statistical analysis through SAS. This includes discrimination, calibration, population stability, & sensitivity measures; interpret and report on the results of this analysis
• Produce detailed documentation for all model validations to a standard appropriate for reporting to internal and external stakeholders (including the Financial Regulator, as required)


Essential Key Requirements:

• The successful candidate is likely to have a quantitative discipline such as statistics, econometrics or mathematics and/or may have experience in quantitative analysis.
• Good report writing skills.
• High levels of commercial awareness – to recognise the balance between measurement excellence and business needs.
• Excellent team player with enthusiasm and energy, able to deliver under tight deadlines.
• Advanced user of Excel.
• Knowledge of statistical analysis packages such as SAS (e.g. Base, E-Miner) is desirable but training can be provided, if required.
• Familiarity with the broad principles of Basel II/CRD.

Overview:
Excellent client looking for a Financial Data Analyst in their Credit Risk Team.

Job Description:
To lead and support the review and further development of the company’s existing Portfolio Credit Risk modelling methodology used for the purpose of identifying potential additional capital requirements for Credit Concentration Risk.
 Be familiar with current Credit Concentration Risk Regulatory requirements (GL31). Keep up to date and abreast of new Regulatory requirements, industry best practice and take steps to position the company to implement same.
 Become the subject matter expert on Portfolio Credit Risk modelling for engagement with the Central Bank around the company’s risk management practices, such as SREP interviews, and follow up responses and documentation.
 Ensure any shortcomings raised by either Internal or External stakeholders are satisfied in future enhancements of the model in line with prescribed deadlines.
 Increase the understanding of Portfolio Credit Risk Modelling and stress testing across the company, through targeted presentations and Senior Management Understanding programmes.
 Take ownership of the execution of stress testing for Credit Concentration Risk and ensure the complete, timely and accurate submission of external and internal stress testing reports to the Stress Test Team and relevant external Regulators.
 To extract and analyse trends from Credit Concentration Risk stress testing results so as to inform senior management decision making.
 To ensure the appropriate documentation supporting the process is reviewed, maintained at a consistently high standard and is up to date.
 Build and maintain relationship across the Group so as to ensure that Portfolio Credit Risk Modelling requirements are satisfied at all times and that a consistent and robust methodology is implemented.


Required Skills:
The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate:

Excellent numeracy skills (degree / masters in a numeric discipline).
 Strong data management, analytical and reporting skills – experience of using these in a high data volume environment.
 An in-depth knowledge and understanding of Credit Portfolio Models such as KMV.
 An in-depth knowledge and understanding of the Regulatory rules / requirements as prescribed under the Capital Requirements Directive (CRB)/ Basle II Framework together with their practical application, (asset correlations etc).
 Clear understanding of the Regulatory Stress Testing requirements for IRB and STD (standardised) portfolios (GL31 and GL32),
 Proficiency in Excel to include / VBA,
 An understanding of the composition of credit portfolios or a background in Credit and/or Banking.
 Proficiency in the SQL query writing for use with FERMAT and the EDW.
 A working understanding of SAS would be beneficial.

• 3-5 years data mining and analytics experience in the Retail, Insurance, Telecommunications or financial services industries
•Demonstrated experience in leading the delivery of data analytics services in a professional services or large corporate environment
•Experience with MS Access and ACL, and programming languages such as VB and/or SQL to develop ad-hoc tools and queries/reports
•Demonstrated ability with assisting businesses with deriving value from existing data
•Optional - Experience with web based technologies to enable data presentation and capture
• Optional - SQL Server experience

The CRM team is responsible for the development and delivery of campaigns into the branch, telephone and online channels.
The objective is to find commercially successful ways of driving cross-sales and higher product holdings across key customer segments.

The Role:
• Lead the development of analytics models using the SAS analytics suite. The focus of this work is to use sophisticated analytical techniques to determine which customers have high propensity to purchase specific products.
• Develop propensity models for key products that deliver strong uplift.
• Manage models through their lifecycle to ensure they deliver ongoing success.
• Develop the models to input into the development of the next best offer capability.
• Contribute to the ongoing build and maintenance of the Marketing Data Warehouse.
• Work closely with the wider members of the team to build a dynamic and commercially focused campaign process.
• Manage the delivery of ‘Return on Investment’ in-campaign and post-campaign reporting.
• Provide customer profiling, marketing reporting and segmentation analysis as required.
• Provide ad hoc analysis as required to support key commercial decisions and business case development.
• Coach other members of the team to support the development of a wider and deeper analytical/modelling capability within the business.
• Liaise with external vendors, such as SAS, to ensure we are getting the most out of the analytical tools.
• Work to ensure that the wider CRM infrastructure is aligned with and integrated as required with key systems (SAS, SMART, BICC etc.)


The Person:
The ideal candidate will have a degree in statistics or a similar discipline. They will have proven commercial experience and the ability to apply statistical analysis to drive outstanding commercial results.

• advanced Microsoft Access and Excel skills
