Cisco Network Engineer

I have a great client in Dublin who are looking to hire an experienced Cisco Administrator for a permanent role. Someone who is CCNA / CCNP certified is required.
Responsibilities
• Provide critical systems with support
• Work as part of the ICT Support and Operations Team
• Help design, develop and commission the new network and telecommunications equipment
• Network monitoring, status reporting, system documentation and logging all important incident information
Qualifications
• Must have CCNP/CCNA or higher
• Experience in dealing with complex IP and networking issues
• 3+ years hands-on experience in a Senior Network Admin role
• Experience with designing and implementing new network solutions.
• Min 3 years Cisco and Juniper experience
• Knowledge of Windows Server 2003/2008/2012, Clustering
• Excellent working knowledge of security technologies (firewalls, web proxies, email gateways, vpn tunnels)
• Strong communication skills, ability to work well in a team and under pressure

Duties:
The successful candidate will undertake the following:

• Support of voice/data network in terms of fault tolerance and network performance.
• Provide direct support to infrastructure team for network issues.
• Point of call for Network hardware and software support.
• Provide assistance for telecoms support staff where necessary.
• Assist with all network auditing tasks.
• Maintain required patch updates on database systems.
• Manage the control of access of the comms rooms.
• Disaster Recovery methods and capacity planning.
• Provide on-call support.
• Address all network related issues on a daily basis.
• Support and administer all Network infrastructure equipment.
• Windows server administration.

Essential:
• Degree in relevant IT technology.
• 2+ years’ experience in a similar role.
• Experience of Voip, network security and monitoring, routing protocols, subnet calculation and firewall principles skills.
• Knowledge of change control processes.
• Retains a strong focus on delivering results to high standards despite contraints or setbacks; ensures delivery.
• Seeks relevant information to diagnose problems; takes effective decisions within the scope of own responsibility.
• Forms effective relationships at all levels within the IT function customers & external suppliers.

• Excellent troubleshooting skills & abilities.
• Excellent organisational skills.

Desirable:
• Nortel Certified or CCNA.
• Windows Server certification.

Description: Cisco Network Engineer (Voice/ Data/ Video and Wirless Network Services Environment) - Excellent corporate client offering an excellent salary and excellent benefits package. The role is City Centre based beside Tara Street Dart station.
Purpose/Objective:
The Network Infrastructure Engineer has responsibility for technical design and operation of the company's data and voice services. While the position is based in Dublin, the role is global support role. The successful candidate will join a global team of Network and Telephony staff that provide and manage infrastructure in Europe, Asia and the U.S. This is a hands-on position providing both technical and support services to the business and other IT groups.
The remit of this position includes, but is not limited to the following services :
o Local and Wide Area Network Services for both IP and Fibre-Channel environments.
o Firewall Infrastructure based services.
o Secure Financial Services, Market Data Services, Information Tech Services and Internet Services
o Internet Access and Proxy Server Services
o WAN Acceleration Services
o Remote Access Services
o Load Balancing Service
o Wireless Access Services
o IP Addressing and Digital Certificate Services
o Fixed and Mobile Telephony Services
o Voicemail and Fax Services
o Voice Recording Services
o Telephony systems
This position requires detailed technical knowledge, excellent support skills, long and short term planning. Ability to see and troubleshoot daily operational problems within the context of longer-term, higher-level network strategies and directions is essential.

• Team: Has the personal presence and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with fellow staff. Motivates others to apply their knowledge and skills. Provides advice and guidance to less experienced colleagues on all aspects of network and telephony design and operation.

• Network Traffic Analysis: Proficient in the methods and techniques for the capture of traffic information and the analysis of this information into its constituent elements.
• Industry Standards: Proficient in the standards associated with IT practice. E.g.: IEEE 802.3 (Ethernet), ITU (T) H (Audiovisual and multimedia systems), ETSI EN 302 307 (Digital Video Broadcasting), ISO20000 (Service Management), ISO 27000 (Information Security Management Systems). 802.11x (Wireless)
• Operational/Service Architecture: Good familiarity with the IT infrastructure (hardware, databases, operating systems etc.), IT applications and change management processes.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science with an emphasis on technical IT
• 5-7 years’ experience in voice, data, video and wireless network infrastructures and services in a complex corporate environment.
• Has extensive knowledge, both theoretical and practical, of a wide range of communications systems, networks, and software, hardware and carrier services.
