Description: IT Project Manager
Overview:
IT Project Managers are accountable for project initiation and planning, and for overseeing development, testing, implementation, and closeout. This includes initial project planning efforts such as developing the project scope, defining project guidelines, obtaining business and IT sponsor approvals, and coordinating the resources necessary to successfully complete the project. Once a project is set in motion, the IT Project Manager is expected to communicate major milestones, identify potential project risks, provide continuing direction to the project team, and conduct regular status meetings to review project activities.
Project Managers are also responsible for prioritizing procedures for changing scope (i.e., scope management) and project acceptance procedures. Nearing project completion, the Project Manager is expected to obtain feedback to assure that project efforts meet customer expectations for agreed upon schedule, cost and objectives.
Responsible for projects or programs where scope is subject to change. Project objectives address complex business opportunities. The project/program will typically span multiple IT or business areas.
Project Managers are expected to work within a Programme Office framework.

Description: Functional Technical Lead – SDLC
Overview:
The Technical Lead will have responsibility for coordination, oversight and technology leadership to the software development process. They will have responsibility for identifying and translating development requirements into technology architecture. Technical leads work closely with IT Project Managers to expand design specifications into workable solutions. They also promote software development standards, conduct system analyses and guide senior management and project teams during the technology decision-making process.
Key Duties / Responsibilities:
• Responsibility for their direct reports including attract, mentor, retain, manage and support high-performance IT professionals.
• Provide leadership and guidance to Team members with support in maintaining policies and standards. Ensure that standards and practices are consistently maintained within the team. Ensure coding standards are adhered to and best practice is adopted in design, development and QA.
• Provide technical expertise in terms of design, software usage, functionality, performance, aesthetics, resilience and reuse
• Prepare and process annual performance appraisals of direct reports. Manage the appraisal process within the team ensuring reviews are processed on time. Establish or maintain achievable goals to effectively increase the technical, communication, and customer service skills of the Team. Provide guidance for successful career development.
• Responsible for conducting, leading and coordinating software development activities throughout the project, including key design decisions for the technology, structure and configuration of the system.
Specific Experience Comments:
• Degree or equivalent technical qualification
• Typically requires seven or more years of technical and general insurance industry business experience, with specific experience of application development. Experience should include assignments in multiple business and technical areas.
• Requires experience in managing cross functional team and demonstrated ability to influence people at a variety of levels internally and externally
• Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and contribute to delivery of multiple IT projects/processes across business divisions
• Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs, develop and deliver projects using leading edge technology.
• Demonstrated ability to launch and deliver multiple IT projects/processes supporting a variety of clients within budget, on time, and to meet quality and client satisfaction metrics.
• Excellent Verbal and written communication skills
• Negotiating skills
• Good administration and personnel-management skills.
• Understanding of Customer Services operating procedures and standards.
• Good planning and problem solving skills
Academic Qualification: Computer Science Degree
