Description: My Client based in South County Dublin has a vacancy for a Junior Systems Administrator
Key Responsibilities:
Daily monitoring of DNS infrastructure components.
Daily administration and support of production, test and development environments.
Upgrade and maintenance of server machines.
Involvement in systems and services development.
Troubleshooting problems and performing preventative maintenance on a variety of systems and configurations.
Responsible for creating new tools and procedures to improve the efficiency of systems maintenance.
The ideal candidate will possess:
Required:
BSc in Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience.
Good knowledge and experience in managing production server environments, to include installation & maintenance of Intel servers and other associated hardware.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of Red Hat Linux to include standard services, protocols, applications, software upgrades, performance tuning, data recovery etc
Good knowledge of SUN Solaris and Microsoft Windows server administration
Programming skills in any of the following: Perl, C, shell scripting.
Good understanding of TCP/IP protocols and networking
Minimum two years of systems administration experience in Linux (preferably Red Hat) and Windows Server environments.

Desirable:
Basic knowledge of networking products and technologies.
Exposure to virtualization products, in particular VMware ESX server.
Knowledge of network security and system hardening would also be beneficial.
General
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
