Skills:

Duties will include:
• Installation, clustering and administration of Windows 2003, 2008 and 2012 Servers to company standards using industry tools and best practices.
• Familiarity with HP Insight Manager
• Installation, administration and troubleshoot issue of Citrix XenApp6.5, Citrix Secure Gateway
• System upgrades such as firmware, OS, application, and security patch evaluation using WSUS, scripting, and other manual processes
• Installation and administration of VMware ESXi 5.x environments within local and shared storage
• Automated server deployments, vMotion, Storage vMotion, Update Manager, DRS, HA, VMware Conversion tools, SRM, VMware CLI and scripting
• Administer and/or troubleshoot related environments such as WINS, file shares, folder permissions, user account maintenance as well as server performance tuning
• Daily interaction with colleagues from Implementation and Support teams along with project managers

Successful candidate must :
• Have the ability to deliver projects/issues solo to their completion in the time frame allotted as well as collaborate within a team environment.
• Have familiarity with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio)
• Have familiarity with writing procedures and maintaining process documentation
• Be friendly, confident, self-starter, and have the ability to communicate with all levels of IT personnel from staff to upper management.
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work in team environment but can self-direct where necessary
• Friendly and outgoing with willingness to assist fellow team-members
• This position has frequent contact with end users, help-desk peers, vendors, remote IT staff and managers.

Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will:
• Implement, support & develop the current Microsoft Windows Network across a multi-site environment.
• Administer the VMware virtualised infrastructure and VDI environments.
• Manage Data Storage and take responsibility for backup and recovery.
• Administer MS Exchange and email archiving.
• Administer and maintain SQL Server databases.
• Configure network equipment including switches & routers.
• Administer network security including Cisco ASA, IronPort web and email filtering, and Symantec Endpoint Protection.
• Provide Second Level technical support to our users.
• Provide out-of-hours and on-call support on a rotating basis.
• Audit network infrastructure and software and update Asset Management databases.
• Create, manage and drive IT infrastructural projects.
• Implement and test the company Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans.
• Liaise with external support and vendors’ Account Managers.
• Keep up-to-date with new and emerging technologies and contribute to IT strategy.

Requirements:
• Relevant experience in a similar role ideally within retail, distribution or wholesale industries.
• Fully proficient in MS Active Directory 2008 and MS Exchange 2010 (or later).
• Proven track record in installation, configuration, maintenance and recovery at all levels of Active Directory, DFS and Exchange 2010.
• Excellent knowledge of hardware including servers, storage and network equipment.
• Administration of Cisco ASA and VPN.
• Previous experience managing a VMware environment.
• Excellent TCP/IP network and routing protocol skills.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience of operating in a high-availability multi-site environment.
• Educated to degree level in an IT or Business related discipline, or diploma in an IT or business related discipline with relevant IT experience. Also with a MCSE or MCITP and a VMware certified professional.
• Must be a highly motivated self-starter.
• A strong communicator with the ability to effectively convey information verbally and in writing.
• Excellent project management skills with ability to work well on a number of different tasks, sometimes with conflicting deadlines.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.

The Opportunity
We are currently looking for a Senior Linux Systems Administrator to join our technical team. This role will involve supporting, maintaining and implementing a network of Linux servers running a variety standard and in-house applications. The network supports telco-grade voice and data over redundant sites, utilising various high availability technologies to ensure availability for mission critical services.

This will be a great opportunity to develop your skills further with potential access to a wide range of technologies, from servers to IP routing, security, enterprise storage, Telco grade voice switches, cloud computing and other virtualisation technologies.

The organisation
My client is a leading Interactive Media and Entertainment Company. We are a market leader with extensive experience in developing and hosting leading edge interactive media applications which are used by some of Ireland’s leading brands.

Responsibilities
• Day-to-day operations and maintenance of Linux network
• All OS configuration, maintenance and updates
• Develop and maintain scripts for systems automation
• Monitor and maintain high availability systems
• Manage and report on service and systems availability
• Investigating issues and problems, working through to resolution
• Suggest and design upgrades and improvements to the systems
• Document all planning, processes and procedures

Skills and requirements:
Debian, RedHat, Nagios, LEMP / LAMP, AWS, TCP/IP, good documentation and communication skills
• A Degree or relevant Certification in computing or a related discipline
• A minimum of five years’ experience as a Linux Systems Administrator
• Excellent experience and knowledge of Linux high availability/failover systems
• Experience with Nagios monitoring and configuration
• Detailed understanding of Apache and Nginx including virtual hosts config and secure SSL configuration
• Excellent MySQL configuration, including multi-master, master-slave and multisource replication
• Working knowledge of NoSQL especially MongoDB
• Excellent understanding of TCP/IP networking, applications, routing, VPN and firewalling
• Strong scripting skills (Bash and Perl)
• Experience with automation tools like puppet and auto scaling
• Strong trouble shooting and problem solving skills
• Demonstrate and ability to prioritise and handle a diverse workload

The following would be highly desirable:
• Asterisk, RRDtools, Cirpack, CCNA

My Dublin South based client is currently recruiting for a Systems Engineer to join their existing team. This is with an exciting opportunity with an excellent client.

Key Duties / Responsibilities:

 Providing tier 2/3 help desk support to engineering and administration staff located at Dublin and remote site offices.
 Supporting Microsoft Windows networks: Dell servers, desktop PCs and laptop computers.
 Supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system configuration, deployment, maintenance and support.
 Supporting TCP/IP networks: Cisco switches and Cisco IP-PBX phone system
 Delivering uninterrupted services throughout the organization on all platforms
 Creating and implementing corporate IT processes and standards.

 3+ years experience in a corporate IT environment.
 A degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
 Minimum 2 years experience with Microsoft Operating Systems, preferably Windows 7, Windows Server 2008/2012, Active Directory, SharePoint.
 Minimum 2 years experience with Linux Operating Systems, preferably Red Hat.
 Minimum 2 years experience with TCP/IP networking, preferably Cisco networking
 Good working knowledge of TCP/IP protocols (DNS, DHCP, SSH, FTP) and their applications.
 Have a good understanding of data storage systems.
 Have experience with data backup policies and procedures.
 Be able to work to the policies and procedures of an IT department.
 Microsoft Certification is an advantage.
 Red Hat Certification is an advantage.
 Cisco Certification is an advantage.
 Have experience working in a hi-tech engineering environment, but not essential.
 A strong work ethic and enthusiasm to work in a dynamic and challenging environment with the latest hardware and software technologies.
