Description: Business Systems Analyst – Cork

Main Duties
A senior team member working with business teams to understand business needs and gather requirements for effective IT solutions.

Responsible for the design, testing and support of software changes to applications to address business needs. This role will include project management, business analysis, creation of specifications and testing. This role may also assume additional responsibility for other applications and future systems integration work.

Responsibilities:

• Liaise with various business teams to gather requirements and resolve different business issues.
• Develop a Subject Matter expertise of the day to day business operations.
• Defines, plans, organizes, tracks and manages the project oversight to meet defined requirements or business specifications
• Understand the specific business problem that software aims to solve.
• Conduct user training as part of the deployment.
• Project manages operational projects.
• Document new business requirements and technical specifications.
• Create, document, and implement test plans and scripts.
• Create and maintain technical documentation.
• Perform user administration.
• Coordinate software deployment with other IT functions and business users.
• Develop solid understanding of business processes.

Accountabilities

• Collects business requirements for the project and translates them into functional specifications and detailed test plans
• Hands on project management of several projects with limited dependencies; work planning, risk management, issues reporting.
• Leads requirements gathering sessions with the business teams
• Defines test conditions and test cycles for testing.
• Completes change requests on time and provides support to technology team during development
• Provides input and support to training development process
• Conducts integration testing and documents and resolves issues
• Gains formal acceptance of solution at the end of User Acceptance Test

Profile of Candidate

• Experience with entire System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong project management experience, managing project plans, scope, issues/risks
• Ability to resolve issues in a timely fashion
• Ability to communicate with project stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong, demonstrable level of influencing and negotiating skills, both with Business users and Development/Solutions teams on and off-site
• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent
• Formal project management qualification desirable(e.g PMP, Prince2)
• Minimum 5+ years experience in a Business Systems Analyst role.


Remuneration Package:
Very attractive Remuneration Package and a salary band from €50 to 55k per annum

Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the preparation of BA estimates & plans
• Liaise with customer counterparts and actively drive out customer requirements
• Provide industry expertise / advice to clients, project delivery teams, sales teams
• Conduct workshops, system demonstrations and presentations
• Create and maintain specifications (product requirement, functional requirement, etc…)
• Undertake peer reviews of specifications
• Conduct specification walkthroughs (for other project delivery teams)
• Assist and participate in the specification sign-off process
• Provide support to the various project delivery teams (development, QA, Data Migration, UAT)
• Assist with client and project delivery team training
• Participate in defect resolution (e.g. correct a product rule)
• Daily reporting of BA progress


Competency Profile:

• Highly experienced in the Financial Services. Life and Pensions experience is a must for this role
• Highly experienced in business analysis processes and methodologies
• Meticulous attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Highly experienced in working with a variety of software development methodologies
• Good knowledge of project management work practices

Description of Role:
My client is looking for a UI developer to take a hands on role in expanding the features of their existing Swing client, but also to take a leading role in working to develop the next generation interface to the clients product.
Strong Swing UI development skills are essential along with excellent Java skills.
This role will suit those with a keen eye for visual interfaces, with an excellent understanding of good user interface design.
• Work within a team of engineers to develop and improve the Swing client
• Contribute to all aspects of the SDLC, from specification and design, development, integration, rollout and maintenance
• Technical Environment: Java, Swing, SwingX, JFreeChart

Skills/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent technology discipline.
• 3+ Years experience software development experience using Java
• Strong Java, Swing and general UI Skills
• Experience with development tools such as Netbeans, Eclipse, ANT and Subversion.
• Experience in any of the following an advantage:
• Netbeans RPC
• Swing Docking Frameworks
• Application Installer tools.
• XML Technologies including JAXB
• Bean Validation (JSR 303)
• Dependency Injection (Spring)
• Strong Understanding of Design Patterns, especially MVC.
• Strong Analysis, design, and estimation skills
• Excellent Problem Solving Skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Experience working with remote team members an advantage

• Interested in all aspects of UI testing, browser versions, flash as well as back end tool functions.
• Responsible test case creation, test execution, reporting to QA manager.
• Ability to escalate issues to manager.
• Integrate product knowledge from testers, developers and product managers into the testing process.
• Assist in reporting, investigating and debugging software issues in coordination with support and development.
• Experience in bug management and holding triage meetings.
• Ability to understand business system at architecture\component level and liaise with development teams.
• The candidate must have strong numeracy skills and an understanding of exchange fundamentals.
• The candidate must work well within a process driven environment specifically with attention to detail and actively promote adherence to process.


The Successful Candidate:
• Candidate must have a proven track record in all facets of testing with a technically challenging development environment.
• Self starter and has the ability to learn and understand complex systems quickly.

Key Requirements:
• Degree qualified with a minimum of 4/5 years experience in quality assurance in a financial sector.
• Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to grasp issues quickly and make educated, critical judgement.
• This candidate will need to be a good team player and have the ability to work autonomously with a minimum of supervision.
• Experience in working with a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical skills for effective problem solving.
• Being able to work under pressure and tight deadlines is a must.
