Description: Graduate Junior IT Support Engineer
My client is looking for two Junior/ Graduate Support Engineers who are looking to build and grow their career in a Operations Support environment (Linux/ Oracle Technical Support). The role will suit someone who is a recent graduate in IT and who has 6-12 months work experience
Role and Responsibility
The successful candidate will assist the IT operations team in performing the day to day IT duties for the organisation.
These duties will range from systems administration, testing and/or data analysis.
Key responsibilities:
• Perform basic system administration duties across multiple technical platforms
• Perform regular platform checks and apply necessary bug fixes
• Deploy new application releases
• Troubleshoot internal & external technical customer issues
• Build and deploy various mobile campaigns, across multiple platforms
• Run key daily reports and procedures
• Perform system, regression and unit testing
Candidate Profile
Key attributes / skills:
• Any knowledge of Oracle would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of UNIX or LINUX would be nice to have
• JBoss and/or Tomcat troubleshooting (or familiarity) an advantage
• Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing technical environment
• Should be outgoing with excellent communication skills
• Professional and personal credibility with a good understanding of the corporate industry
• An ability to get on well with others. A positive, proactive "can do" attitude
• Must have excellent attention to detail, be highly organised and flexible
Ideally we would like someone with 6-12 months work experience working in the IT sector with hands on knowledge of the skills mentioned above. We would consider graduates with no experience if they were a good fit.

Operations Engineer - Permanent - Dublin Central
Responsibilities
" Dedicated Operations Engineer delivering key operational support.
" Evaluation of system performance and metrics to determine if proactive action needs to be taken
" Technical troubleshooting and problem solving
" Trouble Ticket Management to Resolution
" Technical specialisation in IT Products
" Escalation to and liaising with Group Technology (3rd level)
" Keep clients updated on the status of any open issues and managing expectations in line with SLAs
Requirements
" 3rd level qualification in a numerate discipline, ideally computer related
" Experience administering Linux/Unix systems
" DB knowledge particularly MySQL
" Software development experience in any of the following - C++, java, PHP, perl
" Excellent troubleshooting and technical problem resolution skills
" Experience with any monitoring systems, e.g Nagios
" Provide Systems support on Production Services to resolve issues ensuring a great customer experience
" A self-starter, with the ability to learn and understand complex systems without difficulty

Key Responsibilities & Duties Include:

Interpret business requirements from a wider perspective and recommend/propose the most appropriate technical solutions in line with industry advances

Duties:
The successful candidate will undertake the following:
• Administration of Linux servers, virtual machines, provisioning systems;
• Provide server management and network support for internal and external customers;
• Proactively ensure networks, server and environmental infrastructure are available and secure;
• RADIUS & LDAP administration and configuration;
• Administration of DNS, SQL databases and web-hosting systems;
• Troubleshoot and evaluate provider connectivity issues.

Experience:

Essential:
• Minimum of three (3) years industry experience, at least two (2) of which working in a similar role;
• Experience in supporting Internet, E-mail and Web technologies;
• Proven expertise implementing Internet services.

Desirable:
• Experience working with an ISP, providing network and server management support for internal and external customers.

Skills & Aptitudes:

Essential:
• Excellent knowledge of Operating System software and its administration;
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of TCP/IP networking;
• Ability to logically troubleshoot and evaluate server and network connectivity issues.

As a Senior Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for designing, developing and introducing of state of the art network services. You will work with our network operations team to ensure the best practices in system administration and security are implemented in our complex, high performance network and data centres. Creativity and a willingness to collaborate with colleagues, clients and industry partners are essential in the approach to your day to day activities, as well as a passion for detail.

Your experience in systems administration, storage technologies and familiarity with network equipment and technologies will ensure that you can work with our service and network development experts to design next generation storage and virtualisation technologies, and have the vision to turn them into robust client facing services.

You will work in a team of systems and network experts, who have created my clients substantial portfolio of services. With them, you will be involved in data centre development, service and network deployment, new service initiation and existing service troubleshooting at a high level.

Duties:
The successful candidate will undertake the following:

• Building resilient internet services;
• Designing scaleable high speed / high availability data storage and compute environments;
• Driving adoption of the client’s storage and virtualisation services;
• Working with clients to research requirements for new services;
• Designing service provisioning tools;
• Managing the platforms which deliver the client’s suite of services;
• Participation in research projects with clients and peers.
Experience:
Essential
• Minimum three years experience as a Linux, Unix or Unix-like Systems Administrator, ideally in an internet service business, providing server and network management support for internal and external customers;
• Experience with system administration of WAN and LAN storage attached network technology;
• In depth knowledge storage and virtualisation systems administration.

Desirable
• Experience designing and/or operating cloud management platforms;
• Working with operations teams to deliver services to end users;
• Experience with, and research of the novel storage and compute virtualisation software/services.
Skills & Aptitudes:
Essential
• Expert system administration & technical analysis skills;
• Experience building and managing virtual server environments;
• Very familiar with networking technology;
• Expert with internet service architectures;
• Expert with storage fabric management.

Desirable
• Expert with Linux/Unix system administration tools, including:
o Comprehensive knowledge of modern Linux OSes - preferably Ubuntu or Debian;
o Expert with scripting tools, eg: bash, Perl, awk, sed, etc.
• Experience using hypervisors and cloud management platforms, e.g. one or more of:
o VMware, KVM, XEN;
o OpenStack, VMware, OpenNebula, CloudStack, vCloud, etc.
• Expertise with Internet services, including:
o DNS, HTTP;
o Thorough understanding of internet networking (TCP/IP) and technologies for deploying highly resilient services.
• Familiar with networking technologies, including:
o Resilient high speed network architecture design and implementation;
o Switching technologies.
• Familiar with system monitoring software (e.g. one or more of cacti, MRTG, Smokeping, Icinga, Nagios, rancid);
• System profiling tools;
• Router and switch system hardware architecture.
Personal characteristics:
Essential
• Proven ability to work as part of a team and as an individual;
• Friendly, collaborative approach;
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Preferred:
• Solid experience with the Magento Platform and CMS platforms
• Hands-on experience with server-side scripting (PHP)
• Familiarity with the Google Maps API
