Description: Title Datacentre Infrastructure Specialist

My Dublin based client is currently looking for an experienced Data Centre Infrastructure Specialist to join their expanding team in a permanent role.

This role will support the migration of telecom equipment & services, IT equipment, applications and IT services within and between Our Client’s data centres, and the replacement/upgrade of core infrastructure elements, as well as replacement/upgrade of inter-data centre data replication links.
The role will also safeguard on-going delivery of day-to-day IT infrastructure services throughout the migration. The role will involve advanced scheduling based on complex interdependencies and careful stakeholder management and communications.
The role will report to the Technical Lead of the data centre Migration Project, within Our Client’s IT Project Delivery Organisation. In a transition context, the role may also report to the IT Infrastructure manager, within IT Service Delivery.

Roles and Responsibilities.
The role will assist the technical lead/data centre manager in some of the following areas:
1. Actively contribute to overall data centre migration project planning
2. Oversee day-to-day data centre operations
3. Identify, prioritise, and schedule Facility, IT & Telecoms tasks
4. Liaise with 3rd parties around facility services (electrical, cooling etc.)
5. Liaise with Our Client IT teams around IT infrastructure tasks (servers, IP, Storage)
6. Liaise with Our Client IT teams around IT application migration & switching tasks
7. Monitor critical facility capacities and dependencies
8. Convene stakeholder meetings to address IT/Facility/Architecture issues
9. Oversee replacement/upgrade of intra data centre DWDM services
10. Oversee replacement/upgrade of MetroEtrhernet, microwave, MPLS links
11. Oversee installation and configuration of core IP network
12. Oversee installation and configuration of core SAN network
13. Oversee installation and migration of storage arrays
14. Oversee installation and migration of UNIX/Linux/Windows servers
15. Scheduling & oversight of virtual server/application/database migrations
16. Assist in auditing and necessary reporting, as required.
17. Creation and maintenance of technical/project documentation
18. Support the planning and execution of infrastructure migrations
19. Travel between Our Client’s head office & data centres

Skills Required.
Technical skills (Essential).
• Excellent Knowledge of data centre facility services (cooling, power, fire etc.)
• Excellent Knowledge of data centre infrastructures (racks, cabling, floors etc.)
• Excellent Knowledge of data centre standards and procedures
• Excellent Knowledge of IT infrastructures (servers, storage, IP, SAN etc.)
• Excellent knowledge of Telecom technologies (DWDM,. MPLS etc.)
• Excellent knowledge of IP WAN & LAN technologies and equipment
• Excellent knowledge of SAN technologies and equipment
• Experience of high-availability and disaster recovery IT configurations
• In-depth knowledge of Infrastructure Hardware and Software best practices
• Knowledge of backup technologies and processes
• Knowledge of VMware ESXi (5.0, 5.5, 6.0)

Technical skills (Desirable).
• Knowledge & experience of Windows Server 2008 R2 & 2012
• Knowledge & experience of UNIX
• Knowledge & experience of Enterprise Linux
• Knowledge of include Cisco IP Switching & Routing
• Infrastructure Solutions Architecture.

Essential Soft skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Be a proven team player.
• Ability to lead technical work streams

• Knowledge of current IT technologies and service management processes.
• Have demonstrated ability to drive technical issues through to completion.

Qualifications
• Recognised third level computing qualification.

My client is a leading corporate client (globally circa 20,000 users) and they are looking for a Infrastructure Manger for the Irish HQ in Dublin Southside. You will be tasked with managing an infrastructure team that covers: servers, storage and backups; IT Architecture and Desktop engineering.
Principal Objective of Position:
To assist the Group Head of I.T. in maintaining a reliable, flexible and cost efficient IT environment for the Group and be responsible for the day-to-day security of our IT infrastructure including the maintenance of a verified disaster recovery plan
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Support & Administration
Responsible for the efficient and effective implementation, maintenance and operation of the IT infrastructure including head office, retail sites, remote office locations & remote workers.
Responsible for the operation and management of the IT Support Team including internal and external resources.
Ensure all IT issues that arise get handled, managed and resolved in a timely fashion - this includes trouble shooting, incident investigating, extracting logs and doing root cause analysis.
Ensure IT infrastructure is kept up to date with appropriate testing and application of latest patches and releases in a number of areas.
Manage a range of service providers and ensure they are delivering in accordance with agreed SLAs.
Projects - manage a range of projects to improve and enhance the overall ICT offering .
Manage budget and all costs in the infrastructure area.
Communications & Network
Responsible for the implementation and operation of suitable communications infrastructure for both data and voice traffic.
Responsible for the day-to-day monitoring of the Group WAN; LAN & VOIP networks.
Security
Responsibility for the day-to-day security of servers, client PCs, networks and applications.
Responsible for the security of electronically stored data within the Group.
Ensure user knowledge and awareness of IT security.
On-going development, administration and implementation of the back-up procedure including Business Continuity Planning and Disaster Recovery.
Conduct and participate in internal / external IT / ICT audits
Health Safety and Environment
You will take ownership and demonstrate visible commitment to improving the HSE culture which is consistent with the principles of Zero Mind-set, No Repeats and Non Negotiable Standards
The successful candidate will have
Related Third level qualification (degree level or higher)
At least 3-5 years' experience working within a similar role.
Professional skills in infrastructure management including planning, analysis and implementation, systems management and operations, networking and communication.
Proven track record of dealing directly with users on a wide variety of IT-related issues
Project experience including proposal development, application testing, environment set up, co-ordination of vendor activities
Strong VMware, MS Windows, Windows 2003/2008 server experience (VMware certified / trained, minimum MCSA certified)
Strong IT/ICT security knowledge and experience.
Knowledge of backup and restore functions.
Strong general TCP / IP networking and troubleshooting skills, CCNA certified.
Ability to operate to a high degree of confidentiality and discretion
Staff and budget management experience.

Proactively manage the availability, performance and stability of Server Virtualisation, server and storage infrastructure.

Manage new designs and evaluate new features in physical or cloud solutions.
Maintain Virtualisation service availability at highest level, in line with Service Level Agreements.
Proactively monitor and manage change in line with best practices.
Provide technical assistance and consultancy services to the wider IT department for server systems architecture, specification and clustering/high-availability services.
Manage the deployment of new systems hardware, operating systems and clustered services from purchasing through deployment and testing to live production status.
Perform root cause analysis for system problems from the virtual server OS level down to the hardware level and implement solutions as required.
Liaise with suppliers and management on systems purchasing and vendor-specific technical issues.
Identify and evaluate new technologies and solutions associated with the datacentre server and storage infrastructure.
Document procedures and configurations in relation to supported information systems.

Knowledge and Experience

• 5+ years of experience in full-time technical support roles (2nd or 3rd level support)
• 2+ years of experience in a systems administration/engineering role in a medium-scale virtualised server environment
• Strong experience with the VMware vSphere suite including the configuration and support of advanced features (vMotion, vSphere HA) - VCP certified or relevant work experience
• Significant experience with SAN storage hardware administration and data backup subsystems : experience with Dell EqualLogic, de-duplication appliance hardware and Veeam backup an advantage
• Good knowledge of Data networks and web-based applications architecture is required along with basic knowledge database systems and IT security
• Familiarity with Public Cloud, ideally Microsoft Azure

Skills

• Third level degree (or equivalent), preferably in Computer technology/Engineering or similar.
• Excellent knowledge of Virtualisation technology - in particular VMWare
• Good knowledge Common technologies - Server, Storage and Network products from Microsoft, Dell, Cisco, VMWare.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

The Position

Qualifications
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate experience of automation led solutions.

• A degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science or related fields with related experience preferred
• Familiarity or experience of working with OpenStack, Amazon Web Service, VMWare and other cloud management frameworks
• Strong working knowledge of networking, packet tracing, understanding latency and throughput in order to pinpoint or resolve application issues.
